Recommend a good Christmas movie which someone else may not have seen before?

I just heard of this yesterday and watched it today and cannot believe I have not seen it sooner:

One Magic Christmas (1985)

Never appeared on my radar before and I really liked it. Also helps that I think Mary Steenburgen is great.

The film is not a laugh a minute, tinsel covered jolly but a good story I thought as Christmas movies go.

Anna and the Apocalypse

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt6433880/?ref_=nv_sr_1?ref_=nv_sr_1

A zombie apocalypse threatens the sleepy town of Little Haven - at Christmas - forcing Anna and her friends to fight, slash and sing their way to survival, facing the undead in a desperate race to reach their loved ones. But they soon discover that no one is safe in this new world, and with civilization falling apart around them, the only people they can truly rely on are each other.

A zombie Christmas musical! :D

HAHAHAHA - Awesome.

Thanks.

Funnily enough, I only came across it yesterday while searching for something else! It's on my next to watch list haha (not because it's a Christmas film though :p)

Another obscure one I came across once was

Mr. St. Nick https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0325849/

I only watched it because it has Kelsey Grammer (Frasier) in it who I like, was ok.

A surprising number of people seem to not have seen the Muppet’s Christmas Carol - that’s really quite good, I think.

Whilst not an unknown, i only watched It's a Wonderful Life for the first time last year and can see what all the fuss was about.
I came here to post this film :)

While not actually a Christmas film another old one I can highly recommend, and it used to be played a lot at Christmas when I was a child, is A Matter of Life and Death.

I think it's the best version of A Christmas Carol tbh.

For me, it's the Cornley Polytechnic Society versions of A Christmas Carol and Peter Pan. Courtesy of the BBC a couple of years ago.

OK this one is hopefully obscure enough:

An 80s Christmas Carol adaptation with Bill Murray playing Scrooge as a TV exec:

Along the comedy theme should also give mentions to Elf:

And Trading places ought to get a mention too, just 'cos it's awesome (Dan Ackroyd and Eddy Murphy...) and is set around Christmas time...
