I'm new to pc gaming and I am looking for storage drive to keep games on. I've only got a 500gb nvme drive at the moment. I saw on another post some mentioned AMD StoreMI and that might just be the answer for me. However what would be the ideal rpm for a storage drive? The pc is for gaming only.

It doesn't make a huge difference. If you're using steam you can just move you currently played game onto your SSD and archive your games on your HDD.

Thank you for the quick response. Yes, I'm using steam and the Xbox PC gamepass. I'm currently stuck deciding between a WD Black, a Seagate Barracuda Pro and a Firecuda...

Higher the rpm the faster the load times, so if you are going to be playing games from the drive I would go with at least a 7200rpm drive.

If just for storage, I'd still go with the faster drive myself, but a 5400rpm drive becomes more of an option.

My main drive is 500GB NVMe. I keep all games there. Thanks to Steam I don't have to keep all games installed at once. Would strongly recommend to look at SSD. Even cheapest slowest SSD will make a huge difference in loading times.

Spinning 5400rpm is fine for media files, backups and such.
