Dracula | Teaser Trailer - BBC

Third episode was ok, still had too many looooong bits that could have been shortened.

And yep, the guy that plays Dracula could be an older version of Tom Ellis in both voice and looks.

Lackluster ending really, which was a shame as the first two episodes were quite entertaining. Maybe I missed something but failed to see the point of the "Jack" character. Not terrible compared to some of the stuff the BBC has been churning out of late (War of the Worlds!) Just too drawn out and woolly an ending.

Watched ep1 last night and I think it's safe to say we won't be watching any more. I thought the book was one of the best 'classics' I ever read, although I've never seen any other film/TV adaptations. I can understand it'd be hard to translate without turning to camp-ness but honestly... this was rubbish. The first time Dracula appeared was cringy, the dialogue terrible throughout.. and honestly it all looked so cheap... The score did my head in, way too cheesy in trying to tell me what I should be feeling.. and jeez the vampire baby.. just no. What a shame.

For what it's worth I'd probably finish it due to hating leaving things.. but my girlfriend has made it clear she doesn't want to :p

Well that went Game of Thrones didn’t it. Episode 3 was absolutely dire in my opinion....

I’m convinced episode 3 was changed in some way or interfered with, the writing felt so different. It just didn’t feel at all consistent with the first and second episode. Also the idea Lucy was so beautiful and didn’t care about death just didn’t work at all, casting was totally wrong for her role.

Ep 1 - 7/10
Ep 2 - 6/10
Ep 3 - 5/10
Ending of Ep 3 - "that's not blood you're sucking"/10

Amazing how each episode got progressively worse after a fairly good start (the first 1/2 of the first ep was as good as it got).

You didn't miss anything. The final two episodes dialled the cheese to the max and not only rolled out all the cliches, but then contradicted itself and retconed its own canon. Very bizarre turn of events.

I've been putting off watching the last (1/2) series of GoT, because everybody says it's utter doggy doodoo.

At some point I need to man up and take the pain.

Liked the first two episodes, bar the 21st century one-liners.

The third episode however, I found to be wanting...pretty rubbish story and a dire ending.

The ending was beyond dire.

"All this intrigue we've been building up over three episodes, and all the mystery our protagonist is trying to solve... yeah, none of that matters. Lol. Now everyone lives happily ever after, in the sun. Or something. Who cares?"

Its really better not to. Keep it in your memories for how good it was beforehand and dont let those memories get shattered by watching the end

And once again the BBC take one of the greatest pieces of literature and proceed to smear it in ****. I really like Mark Gatiss, he's also a massive classic horror fan too and did a couple of great documentary series on it a few years back, but for this abomination he should hang his head in shame.

Par for the course with Gatiss/Moffat unfortunately - likewise I found first half of episode 1 was pretty decent beyond that it progressively got more and more dire then kind of lost the plot.

Not sure about that - it has happened with other shows by the same people - they don't seem to know how to follow through and after an early peak seem to throw something bizarre together to try and dazzle the viewer and call it a day.

The main problem with the last one was that all the new characters were about as engaging as a rubber clutch. Sister Agatha carried the first two episodes as the only genuinely interesting character, and Dracula -- while a bit Carry On up the Crucifix for my tastes -- was a useful excuse to have her around.

But Lucy was just annoying and deserved everything she got, the lad was a spare part, and Dracula seemed to be a bit of a spectator at his own funeral; it felt wrong, and the extended soak didn't justify it. And when Gatiss appeared I wondered if Dracula was going to be taken down by the Iron Bank's debt collectors.

And how come they let Zoe wander off with their only sample of Dracula's blood after he'd been sprung so they couldn't get any more?

Overall I just didn't care what happened, which was just as well, because there was nothing satisfying about that ending. The documentary about Dracula on BBC2 afterwards was better much work by Gatiss.

She ran the place, so it would make sense no one would question her about it, especially after the sudden sidebar about Dracula being able to leave.

I'm utterly baffled by this.

I really enjoyed episode 1, it had lots of tension and even some decent jump scares.

Episode 2 was less good, but still decent and I thought the ending was going to lead to something really good.

But Episode 3 was one of the biggest piles of dog **** I've ever watched. I've never known a TV series jump the shark so quickly like that. Utterly awful and nonsensical.
