Is there a shortage of non-XT CPUs for anyone to buy the XT? Will there be a shortage of 4000 series CPUs for anyone to buy these?

makes no sense these refresh. They won’t shift. They are better off selling them at the same price as current retail and ppl might buy a lot of them knowing that they are better silicon (ppl on intel still, or ppl on zen and zen+)

Tna and myself have very good 3600's,
In my testing there was little performance difference from an all core 4.2ghz to 4.45ghz in gaming. I ended up sending my 280mm aio back for a refund and downclocking from 4.45ghz to 4.35 on a tiny purerock slim.

If you are late to the party on Ryzen,or looking at a cpu swapout just buy a 3600/X save your money. £240-£250 is too close to a 3700x.

yeah agreed, Bezos was selling the 3700x for £250 a few weeks back - the vanilla 3600 is fantastic especially when on offer for around the £150 mark

Unless you get a dog of a 3600 that barely does 4ghz, they do exist. My release day 3600 is awful for core oc (but does 1900mhz IF all day at 985mv - typical!). With PBO maxed out it fleetingly boosts to 4225mhz in low loads and hovers around 3920mhz all core in cinebench R20. With an all core OC of 4050mhz @ 1.287v I lose 3 points in cinebench R20 single core compared to maxed out PBO, that's how bad it is. The 3600 spec can take a massive spread of silicon quality, its the ultimate lottery (even if the overall silicon quality makes it top heavy, there's always bad samples and someone has to get them). For what its worth I also got an average to poor 3600x but a really good 3800x, all were purchased within the first few months of launch.

I don't understand I thought all 3600 are guaranteed to boost to 4.2ghz ?
what do you mean pbo maxed out how do you do that to test the old 3600 ?

Yes but AMD have the internet talking about them again. Every hardware review channel are talking about AMD again. It would have cost the marketing department a fortune to pay for that kind of exposure.

Prior to XT, everyone was talking about Intel's 10th gen.

Exactly, it's not cost then much to repackage the current CPU's as XT's and kept them in the headlines. It's also reset MSRP expectations ready for Zen3 to launch. All sounds like sensible business practice. The bonus is the previous Zen2 chips are still for sale at cheaper prices. What's not to like?

I think as a product their fine but its the price that lets them down, had they been released at the same price point as the 3600X 3800X 3900X with those parts receiving a £20 price cut the reviews would most likely have been positive.
