Hi all,

Follow up from ages ago, i'm replacing a door that leads into garage from the halway, as it has some nice asbestos backing.

The issue I am having is it measures 195 cm height 76 cm wide.
While I can find a door to fit the width, it seems most fire doors cannot be trimmed or if they can, by like 6mm at the bottom.

Only way I can see of doing it is having a custom made one, just not sure which place is best.

Oh the reason its an odd height, is presumably the narrow hall has a very small step down at the end into the house, Why I have not quite worked out yet.

TLDR: Need custom fire foor due to silly sized door, where from?

Cheers,

Al

You need a fire door blank, which can be cut to any size, you may have to refit the lippings on the edges though

Why?
Asbestos is great as a fire resistant product
Is the door damaged?
Just remove and paint/stain ALL around if you are worried

Unfortunately it is damaged in a few places, especially bottom corner, not got a photo but its quite bitty, been that way since we moved in, looks like someones tried repairing it with nails in places. So it is loose in some of these areas.

Fire door blank sounds interesting, potentially cheaper than the £300 plus I've been looking at for bespoke doors.

Don’t try and DIY any changes to a fire door as I’m sure you would agree your life is worth more than £300 which for me is cheap for a bespoke fire door
