Car ideas

It really is proving difficult what path to take. I’m being increasingly drawn to the M135 still despite being short of the budget. The looks and performance of the thing is just so tempting. There isn’t a second contender right now but I need to find one!

I like the ST but the interior puts me off, I had a standard TDCI for four years and was hassle free driving. The interior hasn’t changed!
Golfs I’m still looking at, not sure what competes with the BMW other than the older R32?
Civic Type R I was also looking at but not sure if it’s a 35 year old man’s type of car...

If you're looking at something like the M135i as your definition of 'quick', then you're entering a realm where not much resides, that being 320bhp family cars.

I can see why they're tempting but it also seems a bit of a stretch when at the start of the thread you were looking at a budget of £8k and happy to consider a diesel? Is it really what you want or is it the product of OcUK sowing the idea in your head that anything with less than 300bhp isn't worth owning? :p

To me, reading your list of wants, it has Golf GTI written all over it (or for the more budget conscious an Octavia vRS with the same drivetrain).

It's design brief is pretty much to be 'relatively exciting' as you describe, whilst also being the flagbearer for all round practicality and usability. 220-245bhp depending on age and spec, though most like 220 for £10k - it will come with a few useful toys, the sound system will be solid if not spectacular etc.

To be fair, not many mentioned the 1 series. I wasn't aware of it's appeal until it was said and I did more research. When I do eventually test drive it I want the experience to be underwhelming! I suspect it won't be... Obviously its only from what I've watched/read but the exterior/interior, sound, and performance seem to tick all the boxes but I know there will be a big cost to all this, the purchase of the car, which I'd need to up my budget to 12/14k. The MPG will likely be woeful, tax is 'ok', servicing and the like on a potential 6, 8 or 10 year old car. Everything points at not doing it :)

Some good guesses!

I think it was pretty clear what I wanted and I struck lucky with an old friend selling his M135i, although I may have twisted his arm a bit.

I sacrificed some things I wanted (mainly 3 door) but more than happy with purchase. I think the white and black combo look great. I wouldn't mind putting my mark on the car but not sure really what I can change that keeps it subtle.

The power is remarkable really, to the point I think I scared myself even in comfort mode :D There's a few things to sort on it, mainly exterior.

Thanks to those who suggested the car.

Dirty pics, unfortunately where I live it will mainly be in this state.

Xzibit would have had a "stroke" ;) #plexiglass

I like dark wheels on light cars, especially with the tints :)

Nice! Enjoy :)

Spec? Mileage? Cost?

I haven’t spent anything yet. I guess I’m having an extended test drive but I can’t see me changing my mind.

Spec is the LCI N55 engine.
8 speed ZF
Standard nav - would have been nice to have the pro nav but not a priority.
Cruise, heated seats, keyless start (again, keyless entry would have been nice)
436m alloys
51k Miles
FSH

Think that’s it?

Looks nice other than the black wheels

One of those marmite things I guess, I really like that combo on most cars. My preference would have been the blue but white was certainly second best IMO.

under 8K for that ?

christ, i ought to get one myself, im looking at either a 2015 focus or Leaf for under 8K

Haha, if you read the thread you’d see my budget skyrocketed somewhat. £8k budget basically nearly doubled. Oops.

No way that was under £8k :p

Nice Andy!

Correct, thanks!
