Actually thinking about it there is one car I can think of that by design pops and bangs and that's a bridge ported rotary engine.
Give me a throaty but refined V6 noise any day of the week.
Id take a flat 6 over a v6 any day of the week. The v6 in my TT doesn't sound nearly as nice as the flat 6 in the porsche.
I'd take a straight 6 over either of them.
