Unless you work on production or music, rendering or a small indie developer, video editing, video rendering.
Apart from those tiny points, yeah pointless

It's weird how people can't comprehend it could be a work tool. Music kit makes $1200 seem like pennies. A single microphone can cost more than twice that

32GB Vram . Pointless. 1200 dollars would be more expensive than any GPU theyve ever launched. 128 ROPs would be nice, but looks made up.
Nah, 24gb is not enough, people want to game at 8K these days I hear. 32gb is good to future proof as new games coming out soon will apparently use a lot more vram! :p

Hi
One thing that has not been up in this thread, at least so that I would have noticed, is the ongoing short supply of electronics components.
Especially certain types of capacitors. Could that have a bearing on lack of stock, floating delivery times, and, especially because apparently established customers get preference, even affect competition? All opinions appreciated.

NNit. Sometimes no matter what is available, its never enough for some. :)

After recently watching some 8k game tests, these games eat up to 20gb vram at 8k, so I agree 32gb to future proof it!

While 32Gb Vram is pointless for gaming, it's not pointless for marketing and sales. There'll be a lot of delusional people who will want it, thinking it makes a difference.

Marketing isn't just about what people need, but what they THINK they need.

That particular model is designed as a professional card and will compete with the Nvidia Quadro, also a professional card. 32GB VRAM isn't intended for gaming it's intended for professional tasks.

LETSSS GOOOOOOOOO!

I WAS ABLE TO GET A 3090 FE CARD FROM NVIDIA FROM THEIR LAST DROP...

Had ordered a MSI Ventus here at 14:22... Happy to give this position to someone else if interested..

Congrats on buying a card that costs 110% more than a 3080 and performs only 10% better while being significantly more huge and heavy. FOMO marketing at its finest. :p

You know what screw it haha

I honestly do not have the time or think this card is worth letting someone hold my money with this little effort or communication.

Good luck to you all and i am sure the person who is next in line will love there 3080 in 2021! i cant believe i had 1.4k sitting on overclockers and another sites bank accounts while i sat empty handed and none the wiser for two weeks.

Think this might be the worst consumer experience i have had, mind saying that if i had gotten one it probs would have had the issue so many have anyway and i would have a brick in my pc instead :D

Good luck everyone! and hopefully the 3080ti isnt out in january while everyone is still queing for this one!

Okay, well 32gb VRAM is pointless for gamers (guess I have to choose my wording more carefully on these forums :p). it just adds unnecessary cost. I dont deny it would be useful for some non gaming tasks, but it looks like a straight upgrade from the other speculated GPUs in the series. AMD is supposed to be about offering decent bang for buck.

8k gaming has not 'arrived' youd be lucky to get 30fps. You cant just add more VRAM to increase the perf.

If sold as a professional, limited card, 32gb is perfectly reasonable.

The speculated CUs of 60/64 is interesting. I wonder what made some people in the rumour mill reduce their estimate. Its not even double the CU count of the PS5 / rx 5700.

I agree with Nablaoperator's sentiment about the rumour, which seems to involve box ticking of specs...

It's what you don't know that you don't know that catches you out ;) I see this all the time. I'm a cynic, I spent years auditing scientific studies. Don't believe anything unless you've checked their data yourself.
