Dude - they don't need people to come back to OC - they still have people coming in here and pre-ordering because it's the only place that is open to it.Say the price on web sites has increased. By £70 on those cards. They are not actually losing £70. they just aren't making that extra £70 on the earlier cards. Suppliers won't have increased price like oc did and i'd bet there's still a decent margin in them. OC will have ordered loads at a set price from suppliers.
You're suggesting they have a warehouse full of stock and are waiting for the low numbers to cancel. That's just ridiculous. The price increase on mine was around £50. My eagle had increased by that between launch and me buying an hour later.
Yes they wont struggle to replace people that cancel but who in their right mind is going to come back to oc after they've been peed off enough to cancel from such a low place. People are cancelling by the handful and i doubt a lot will return.
OC are not stupid and they risk more long term damage with what you're suggesting. Still you're entitled to your thoughts and theories. If what you suggest was true then why havn't oc increased their pricing in line with competitors who presumably would have been in exactly the same position? - As pretty much the only place still offering a place in a queue they could quite easily ask for another £100 and offset any potential losses and people would still buy![]()
And if they buy the cards at a higher rate, and then sell them at a lower rate of course they are losing money. They are saying that the cost by the supplier was increased, they only had a small number of cards at the original price.
When RTX 3080 launched, a few card manufacturers supported us to keep a lower selling price on a limited number of orders. These quickly oversold and our pricing increased to reflect the true cost value of these products. We will of course honour the pricing on all the orders sold at the lower value.
And I'm not arguing with you - I probably agree with you that this is unlikely - I'm just spitballing that it's a possibility, regardless of how unlikely. However, I would have found it more unlikely that the AIB's don't want to send cards to OCUK, but are okay to send them to everyone else. That too, sounds just as ridiculous, yet here we are
