It'll be different manufacturer spec approvals, so they will probably have slightly different properties/additives.

Edit. I was blind with original. Left oil is A5/B5 (2.9cP HTHS) Right is A3/B4 (3.5P HTHS)

So one is a thin 0W-30. The other a ‘thick’ 0W-30

You need the A5/B5 version

Is worth checking the detailed specs.

Chances are getting the "headline" specs correct and you'll be fine.

The Mrs Fiesta for example, goes through a fair bit (maybe a litre a year) if you don't put the specified ford spec oil for that car, with correct one hardly any oil at all is lost.

Same of my motorcycle, although with that is use rock oil, and rock oil do a "guardian" version of the same spec, which does make a difference.

Maybe now you have the correct spec oil you won't.

It has the correct spec at service, every year a we round Feb at a Volvo specialist, usually around late summer it will throw up a low oil warning. It’s just burn a bit of oil. Correct spec oil. Unless you are suggesting they got it wrong? But then right spec oil to top up won’t do much when it needs like 5.8L.
