You didn't answer any of my questions, probably because you don't have an answer.
The thing about deer roaming through cities during rutting season is interesting though. So which cities are those? Try not to dodge this question please.
Arf. The "questions" were based on the assumption that the people would want to approach the deer and the deer would want to charge and injure the humans, and that conflict was inevitable and no other outcome possible. Which is why you lead with, "How many injuries is too many?"

If people are stupid they get hurt. If people are respectful and keep their distance (yes, that could include going inside and being mildly inconvenienced) then things can be resolved more beneficially to all parties.

The city was somewhere in Canada, the US or China (etc). This may or may not be the one that I watching on TV, but it's the same deal:

e: Notice that it's the human attitude to the animals that makes this possible. The animals are "revered" by the locals. Rather than terrified by the media that they will be eaten alive, or by scare-mongers such as yourself.

the area i looked at we were talking brick walls and those heavy industrial fences, can't see it getting out that easily, at least short-term. big enough area too so hopefully enough space for it to not feel too hemmed in.

that said i am assuming it's the big estate at the end of the street and not somewhere else they had it.
Without seeing the area my first thought it is that any streets or pathways would need to be blocked police. Which is were you may have the issue of the animal trying to force its way past them.

TBF i highly doubt that the police rolled up weapons drawn and emptied a magizine into it. They probably did try to stop it from wandering off. Before reaching the shot to kill conclusion

the place i think they're referring to is here: https://goo.gl/maps/jbZU3UnimbcSQo8fA

but it's an assumption based very much on "an industrial estate off melling road" so i could be wrong.

Panting like a fiend
I wonder where it had come in from. Bootle isn't exactly bordering the countryside.

Its a shame no-one could be found to tranquilize it. We've got what I would have thought would be the relevant expertise: Knowsley Safari Park, Chester Zoo and Leahurst Veterinary College all relatively nearby.
Tranquilising an animal in the "wild" is not an easy option, and at a guess at least two if not all three of those establishments you've mentioned will only be insured and legally able to carry the tranq guns on their property (or when dealing with their own animals) and there is zero guarantee that the vets college would even have one - it's a specialist item that requires additional training and most vets aren't trained in using them as it's a lot more complicated than "point and shoot".
IIRC zoo vets will try and make sure the animal is contained before using it for their safety, the safety of other humans, and the safety of the animal, they're normally used when an animal is in a cage but needs to be worked on and is too difficult/dangerous to give it by hand (I think they prefer to use pole mounted injectors in some instances).

Also most tranqs don't take effect immediately and some can have the opposite effect for at least a minute or two in which time even a small wild animal can do a lot of damage.

People complain when an animal is killed because "it's the easy option" but they then also complain about why an animal wasn't contained/killed before it caused an accident or killed someone.

So we should assume that only the good outcome is possible and base our decisions only on that without considering consequences? Interesting view on decision making but each to their own.
Also i never asked you that question. If you want you can give an answer.

So the only way people can be hurt by an animal is if they are being "stupid"? Yeah we are going to have to disagree there.
I asked for a number with regards to "distance", you didn't give me one. I would also like you to justify why your number is right and everyone elses is wrong.
This is a city not a forest is it even realistic to keep your "distance"? If someone walk out their front door or turns a corner or steps out of an alley way and they stumble upon it, are you saying that they deseve to get hurt?
What is mildly inconvenienced?

Interesting. The deers in your link are used to human beings though.

but Nara and Miyajima are havens where deer beg for the rice bran cookies vendors sell
Can't wait to see Deers down the local chippy :D

Also you...
How many people should it be allowed to injure and kill before the police take action? I would like a integer number please.
So, yeah...

Let the reader decide who is "lying" here :p

Zoophobia
, or animal phobia, is the irrational fear or aversion towards animals (excluding humans). Zoophobia is the general negative reaction of animals.

Seems what he suffers from and some on this thread. Guessing same people that have never had a pet in their lives or shown any interest in animals. Sad really. They are missing out on so much.

Deer kill around 20 people a year in the UK, virtually all in vehicle collisions, but occasionally someone still gets gored or trampled. It's rare but it does happen.

There are so many humans that some people will be killed by just about anything you could imagine, every year.

By far the majority will be being killed because of human factors. Industrial accidents, car accidents, murder, etc.

Deer won't be very high on the list of possible causes.

So how many police to close down the roads? The big danger is it legging it into a road most people won't be expecting a deer there
