If you have an operators license (which is mandatory to run a commercial vehicle) then absolutely yes you can hire one, in fact we’ve currently got two hire artics at our place one covering a vehicle in for service and another replacing one that’s damaged and off the road.I dont think you can hire an artic can you? Or can you?

Going to run it past his lawyer mate before running it past a motoring lawyer.
My ex mrs was a lawyer and she had a case where her client pulled out from a junction and got T boned by a car with Priority and lost an arm. There was a a bend in the road to the right and the car with priority was doing over 90mph when he hit the brakes. Blame was placed with the car that had priority BUT her client had something like 30% reduction in compensation due to him pulling out when it wasn't safe. Blame on both sides I suspect.
Can confirm this is definitely the case - in fact there are companies which specialise in it! As you say though, they will be hot on checking licence details, training etc.

Turn up at a police station, make a guilt plea (if that's the case) then get your punishment. No need for in and out, in and out and all the carry on they do. It's all just time wasting.

I'd have Definetly expected to lose. Wouldn't even have surprised me I'd they claimed that they had blues on going from past experiences. Good news for ops dad
My Dad asked him why he didn't have his blues on. Got told they were trying to sneak up on someone...... Then 2 other coppers went past going to the same job with blues and twos on...

I bet he did look saw the lights and assumed normal speeds so safe manoeuvre.. He did not account for the other car doing (possibly) 60 mph over what you would expect.. Its not like you look in the mirror several time to gauge the speed of the vehicle behind

They’ve been given clearance to go 50mphish above the speed limit, without blues on… meaning they are going to a Code 1 immediate job, where the threat to life or safety is high enough to warrant that or a crime of significant seriousness is in progress, and instead they decide to pull your dad over for 3 points driving without due care?
That doesn’t make any sense at all and I imagine there is far more to the story on someone’s side.
Now he’s had his day in court, I’d put in a complaint about the officer online or on 101. Something seriously fishy is going on there. Ask for compo due to court time and stress etc.

Yep totally agree, it's absurd that a copper can go to that length and not turn up. I would have thought if they make an arrest/dish out a penalty then they would be compelled to turn up at court. By not doing so, they're not doing their job.

At the end of the day if you're going to drive that fast, particularly at night, you need to be aware of the fact that other drivers might not be aware of your closing speed. Something that is no doubt included in the training of a police driver, and is also common sense for any good driver.

Yes you can argue your dad should have double checked his mirrors, but the traffic cop knowingly doing 120 without blues and twos in the dark should be even more aware of the fact that people might pull out on him
