no it isnt
it does what it says on the tin though. cc with brake = normal cruise control that brakes if you go down a hill to maintain speed or if you decrease the speed using the scroller on the steering wheel

Ah fair enough.
On another note my seats have vent hole type things in them and wondered if they were cooled. I'm pretty sure they are heated but dont need that out here!

I've got a serious itch for an e60 M5 or M6. That engine hehe. It would barely do any miles as I've got a van and the 335i. Man maths says it shouldn't loose any money in a few years time surely only go up in value.

Depreciation will be good but even doing few miles, running costs can be eye watering.

Be under no illusions how much they cost to run, @Gibbo found this out recently.

Down under mate!
Well, I still have not purchased a car yet, I was looking at a series 1, but being I'm 6ft 4 it felt too cramped for my liking. SO currently looking at a nice comfy 5 series.

Took my friends 2017 530D for a spin, and while its a comfy drive I felt very underwhelmed. :( I thought being it's a 3ltr, it would have a little more poke.

The G30 530d has 265bhp. It has plenty of poke for what it is - it'll do 0-60 in 5.7 seconds and 155mph. How much faster do you want a diesel saloon car to be?

It is, however, very refined - which is the point. There will be far less sense of speed and acceleration than there will be in a smaller, slower car.

It does strike me that you really don't know what you want and are in danger of spending a seriously large amount of money on a car you eventually end up not liking anyway.

I don't think its possible to sensibly consider both an M240i and a 530d in the same car purchasing decision. They are too diferent, somebody for whom a 5 Series is ideal (Hello! That's me) would get fed up of a 2 Series in a few weeks. Somebody for whom the M240i is absolutely great would find the 5 Series dull....

Can you stop using 0-60 like it’s all that matters.

There are no other comparable performance metrics published by the manufacturer. It's pretty much the only one that is uniformly published by every single car manufacturer for every single variant of every single model they make. I agree it's an annoying metric but what else do we have?

If you can get the global car industry to move to a better benchmark - and then retrospectively apply it to every model of car they've made - I'll be more than happy to switch to that. Let me know when you've managed it :p

Surely for someone unable to choose between an M240i or a 530D, cars like the 330D/335D/340i are worth considering? Seems odd to pick between 1/2 Series or 5 Series.

The issue is, cheap small fast cars are easy to come by, but if you want comfort and size too, you're looking at things like the M5, which means far greater costs in general. :(

Newer M340i/340d perhaps...
