yeah, eu ctf always had a few full servers, even now the QL ctf pickup is still going every evening while the tdm gets next to nothing unless a cup is going on. QL was mostly CA/FFA/CTF as many didn't fancy the tdm long weapon spawns. Stuff like the simple insta rail mods gave new players a way to learn the basics of movement and aim with one weapon without item pickups though - be great if we could get back to allowing game modding so we can make popular mods & fix their games for them. Server browsers to keep going to servers you like and being able to host your own dedicated server built great communities in multiplayers but they seem to have forgotten or don't care these days.

So many game companies faff about with stuff that people don't ask to be changed, yet they don't fix major issues that so many complain about or majorly broken things. Yet developers call the gamers toxic for it.
That's how 2042 is going right now, all the popular stuff that made it remotely fun got nerfed while they haven't fixed most major bugs/issues. They should have fixed all the weapons to be realistically accurate before they ruined the only one that worked (pp), it's almost pure luck if your bullets hit a head at mid/long when the same shots in almost every previous bf would have that enemy dead. Shouldn't have to tap fire everything. Sad to see they're below 10k players on weekends already now https://steamcharts.com/app/1517290#1m

Does anyone know how the ******** hell, you unbind keys or change some of them? I've unbound "E" to enter/exit vehicle, as every now and then I accidentally nudge it and I jump straight out of my helicopter, which must be hilarious to watch, but it makes me want to throw something at the wall!

I've tried changing it, I've even cleared it - but it still damn works when I press it, has anyone else had this? it's driving me nuts!

Key binding is a legacy feature that devs may or may not bring back :D

People do actually own the game on other platforms beside steam lol
Thank you captain obvious but the point shown was they went from 100k+ steam players to less than 10k in just over a month from launch. It would be great if EA gave player numbers on Origin. I suspect when given the chance more people would use steam over origin, like with Apex legends being on both and not just launching it on origin like battlefield does...

Have you changed it in both vehicle settings and on-foot settings? I think they have it in both so you might need to do it in both.

If it doesn't work then it's always worth deleting your cache folder here: Documents/Battlefield2042/Cache - I had an issue with my M5 being mapped to crouch after I swapped it to grenade and deleting the cache folder solved it for me!

I'd have assumed most PC players who played previous BF games would have picked it up on Origin as that's where all of the previous BF games have been.

On my friends list / Discord, I have a mixture of IRL and people I've met over the years on Battlefield games and pretty much all of them purchased the game through Origin as it's where all of their other BF games are.

I really think we need to stop paying so much attention to Steam player counts, especially as more and more games are both cross-play and release across multiple launchers. It's also very easy to look at the player count at 1pm on a Tuesday afternoon (Halo had 7k players at 1pm today, BF 2042 had 6.3k.) and make a real effort to bend those numbers to an agenda.

In reality, as long as people are enjoying a game then let's just leave them to it vs. finding every opportunity to tell them why the game they enjoy is bad and why they're wrong for enjoying it.

Yeah, once you let go of the fact that this has killed the BF franchise and shouldn't be played as such, it can actually be quite fun.
There are others like it, Ironsight for one (https://store.steampowered.com/app/783770/Ironsight/) but there is a difference.
The others are usually free.

2042 has flaws and issues that need to be fixed but I really think 'killed the BF franchise' is a touch dramatic.

I have a lot of fun playing this game. I had a lot of fun playing BFV, BF1, BF4, BF3 and BFBC2.

There are moments in 2042 that remind me so clearly of moments in previous BF games - running with a bunch of infantry through smoke whilst a jet flies by overhead chasing an attack chopper and tanks / heavy armour are going hell for leather around.

I know it's probably against what a lot of people in this thread think but I really do think that moving away from a class system was a good decision - and whilst I'm hit and miss on the whole specialist thing I do think their mixture of abilities (grappling hooks, wing suits, healing syrette, loadout crates etc.) are all really good additions to Battlefield.

Weapon balance in 2042 is really good! If we look at the SMG class, they all have a place. The K30 is a monster up close but awful past 15 metres. The PP29 hits hard but has a decent amount of horizontal wobble to it - whereas the MP9 can shoot like a laser but does much less damage than the PP29. And the PBX is a good mix of all 3 - and especially great at longer ranges with the long range barrel and standard magazine (vs. close combat).

Things like the 'plus' system are great! You can adjust your weapon build on the fly, mid game.

Yes, there are things missing - the scoreboard for sure. I don't think VOIP is a major concern, I played about 500 hours of BFV and I think I heard someone using in-game chat about twice - but I get that for something like playing Hazard Zone with random players it's definitely needed.

I have a lot of fun with this game and it does frustrate me at times - but there's so much negativity that just breeds more negativity right now. I wish Dice were communicating a little more about their roadmap and plans for the game because that might help calm a decent amount of the frustration.
