Hi All,

I am looking to build a a new PC and would like some advice please.

I would like my new PC to do the following;

My budget for PC rig would be around £1000, as I still have to buy a monitor, keyboard etc.
'I have champagne taste but lemonade money' so would ideally be looking best value, (not the perfect time for this i know)
I would like a PC that plays games such as Scum, battlefield, hell let loose.
A rig that gives me a solid foundation to upgrade in the future
also to use it for general office, such as word, excel etc
Wifi option aswell as LAN, i think (sorry if that's wrong)

The last PC I built was around 10yrs ago, its still going strong even today..., but I am a little rusty so apologies if I have missed anything from my list below but would the below list be compatible and would fulfil my needs?, i am over my budget, i know...i just got carried away by adding fancy lights but can omit these.

would be most grateful for your help

Many thanks

OP wants a monitor, keyboard and mouse included in the price.

I did think that the 3060 ti was a far better part to use but it does push the boat further out, so to say.

Well within the budget.

My basket at OcUK:

Total: £914.59 (includes delivery: £11.70)

The AMD 6600 for £290 should not be ignored if you are trying to stick to a budget. Yes the 3060 3060ti 6700xt etc etc all give better performance but they do not give you better FPS/£. If you are looking to upgrade in the future then the gpu is the most often upgraded. Mobo is wifi and the case has much better airflow than that MSi one you chose, the Lian Li Lancool recommended above is very nice if you have the money in the budget. If you have money to spare then an aftermarket cpu cooler is advisable , Chris Beard picked a good one above so go with that.

The price is similar to what OP speced but if needed you could save £100 and go with a 5600 and maybe another £40 on a cheaper case. I would try and keep the 3060ti as it's primarily a gaming machine and the ti is quite a bit faster (25% or so) than the 3060 so definetly worth it IMO.

The B660M-A Wifi is £35 cheaper.

I agreed and think it’s worth it too.

I would drop to the 5600 or cheap Intel 12th gen and a cheaper case to be able to get the 3060 ti.

Targetting your build which cost £1180.88

Being a bit of a parrot but deal still on at the mo

your 5600X and be quiet 600w semi modular psu is £289.98

I know it's not OCuk, but away you can get the Corsair RM850(2021 new version) for £92.99(OCuk have for £120) and get 10% off the 5600X as part of the combo(10% doesn't include gpu, and only on 1 additional item..cpu/mobo/ram..whichever cheapest), listed for £204.99...down to £184.49 so combined £277.48 in combo deal(OCuk would be £329.98 plus £11 odd for delivery). The Psu fully modular, 10yrs warranty gold so should still be good for your next gpu upgrade in a few years down the line. It comes with free next day delivery too. If you drop to the 5600 instead of 5600X, the combo delivery price is £254.98

Below is the cheapest 3060ti I could find on OCuk. The B550 Gaming edge is a new version of the tomahawk with wifi 6 thrown in for the same price. More fins on the heatsink too so VRM's run cooler too. It will have no problem running any 5000 series cpu, so in future you could drop in a 5800X3d in a couple of years down the line if you want to give yourself a gaming boost or a 5950X. Patriot viper £20 cheaper than the vengeance pro...not sure I'd want to pay £80 for 16gb ram, would rather pay £100 for 32gb
Storage SN750 for £100 if going OCuk ..if want to save a bit and look elsewhere, seen the SN570 1tb for £70. As gaming you're mostly reading so £30 saving again not to be sneezed at. Otherwise also seen the 1tb SN850 for £109.99, which is one of the fastest gen 4 drives you can get..worth the extra £10 over the SN750 in my opinion...ocuk listing for £140

So if went with the Corsair RM850 and 5600 combo deal, the 3060ti, gaming edge, viper steel and SN570 you would be £1004.95, and you would still need a case and prob get cpu cooler like below
My basket at OcUK:

Total: £36.95 (includes delivery: £0.00)

For cases, I'm not up to speed at the more budget end. I've only ever had lian li or corsair case so will leave to others more educated than me.

If going intel, the combo deal away will pair you a RM850 with the B660M Mortar for £229.47 as a combo as opposed to £289.98 on OCuk. The mortar is an excellent board with great vrm's so s/b able to slot any future cpu without having to worry about thermals etc
Think then you could save a bit and drop to 3200 Ram

My basket at OcUK:

Total: £351.88 (includes delivery: £0.00)

so up to £581.35 leaving gpu and case..i put the SN750 in as £100, but would either go SN850 for £110 or SN570 for £70, just add or subtract
the palit 3060ti just gone up in price to £499.99 (so add £30 to build above) so if going that route would now go Zotac for £510 as card comes with 5yrs warranty rather than 2 on the palit.
If going AMD the 6600 is best bang for buck that Haz123 put in above, but below are 2 6700XT that are both overclocked to close to the 6750XT clock speed and prob up there as some of the best performing 6700's, and cheapest 6750XT that OCuk have(was £539 but up £20 already)..the 6750XT s/b faster. With fsr2 being released and on a par with dlss, can see dlss being important but not so much going forward..as both XSX and ps5 run amd gpu's, can see a lotof game developers putting fsr2 into their games so uptake s/b good. ray tracing different matter though so nvidia still king there, though if doing 1st person shooters, would have thought frames per sec more important so would play without rat tracing turned on, in which case review put the 6750xt as being slightly faster or on a par with the rtx 3070
If wanted a cleaner look, seen the corsair 4000x for £108..comes with 3 sp elite fans in front (£54 separately), so will give you a modern look with some rgb that you want...as mortar has white parts, white case would look nice...or 4000d airflow for £89, and can add rgb fans later)
