Is an RTX3080 TI worth £170 more than RTX3080 at this point?

we're talking about 10% performance difference I believe. I would go with the 3080 myself if we're talking about the 12 gb version.
In the end it's up to you to decide if you want to have the extra performance for that kind of cash difference.
I was lucky to bag a 3080 ti for £800 but I am not sure you can get that price now

3080ti as it has 12GB and as fast as a 3090 really, vram is more important out of these two really ask @Nexus18 or @TNA
The 3080 FE is only 10GB and slower.
Both same size and look the same too with the FE's. So if VRAM is more important to you and even the new 4080 is starting at 12GB so gives you a clue future games will need 12GB soon and already some out now.

I bought a 3080 at launch for £650 so for a now 2 year old card I wouldn't say £680 is a good price nor would I say £850 for a 3080ti is good either. AMD are announcing their new cards in 2 and half weeks so I wouldn't rush into buying anything just yet as prices of current stuff may shake up a bit.
it's actually very doable (£800 for brand new 3080 TI Founders) right now.they sell for £850 on eBay.did you buy from eBay?
My main concern is lack of warranty because even with receipt,warranty of these cards isn't transferable.
otherwise it seems there more chance in buying a Ti at £800-£850 vs regular 3080 at say £650-£680 (FE)

no, i bought it from a competitor, which obviously I can't name, they had 44 in stock at that price, all gone in 2 days ...
it maybe the case however with 4000 series pricing,I doubt the £650-£800 range cards need to drop significantly...I had the 3080 FE myself for around 8 Months (bought £650 directly) but I feel that card at £650 is still going to be the best value.
as for AMD I'm not really interested in their cards personally (never been) other than maybe effecting 3000 series prices.

no, you can see it in my sig, a zotac one, I love them and they have 5 years warranty
It's not inconceivable that AMD will release something faster than a 3090ti and with better ray tracing for around £650 so to rule them out before you even see what they have to offer is why nvidia thinks they can get away with with the ridiculous 4080 price performance.
I highly doubt that.
if they do,their small 20% GPU market share vs Nvidia will jump to 50% over night thats how unlikely it is.

swap? I don't have my original 3080 (or PC) anymore.building new.I honestly wouldn’t risk swapping a 3080 to a 3080ti. The absolutely negligible risk of damaging the card doing the swap is greater than the performance differential

I've got a 3080 and if I could pay the difference you're mentioning I would have the 3080 Ti.. the vram being the main factor..
Well nvidia have just cancelled the 4080 12gb so maybe they're trying to avoid and embarrassment.
This mentality is the reason why Nvidia can do anything they want. Stop pretending to care about price/performance and spend as much money as you possibly can.

3080 Ti for sure. Simply put 10GB just isn‘t enough
So if you owned a 3080fe before why are you even asking this pointless question ? Where you clearly state you were happy with the 3080 10GB before and stating it was plenty so why ask ? Seems like a thread with a pointless discussion as it's down to you then if the value is worth it for a 3080ti. You can clearly see prices of cards and the next gen 40 series cards too now they are released so again I will repeat the value comes down to your needs then at the price you are willing to pay. Bit of a daft post mate then. I was under the impression you never had one of the cards before.. So use some common sense and pick what you think is worth it now for you as all the information you need is already out there and you had personal experience with one of the cards as you owned it before.
