Yeah, the fix isn't to remove the auto-install "feature" it's to implement it in a slightly more secure way.

I didn't expect them to remove the option as it's a feature needed for auto updates for those that do use it, just keep the setting off in the BIOS. I'm not sure short of the average user, who would actually use it since the accepted method is to manually update the BIOS so you know exactly what is being done and can oversee the process etc.
