Hi there,

I've been out the pc building game for about 13/14 years. I actually used to work for Overclockers around 16 years ago, albeit in the supplier returns dept.

I'm looking to build a PC to utilise my PSVR2 headset using the PCVR adapter.

I'll be doing most of my gaming on my Series X and PS5 so I won't need anything too crazy. Just something which will run a handful of VR games which aren't available on consoles.

What would you recommend? Budget wise I'm looking for something which will run these games smoothly, but I'm not looking for something Ultra high end which I won't necessarily need.

Thanks in advance

So apparently this is the minimum spec to run PSVR2 on a pc:

Operating system: Windows 10 64-bit or Windows 11 64-bit
Processor: Intel Core i5-7600 or AMD Ryzen 3 3100 (Zen 2 or later architecture)
RAM: 8 GB or more
Graphics card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 or later, NVIDIA RTX series, AMD Radeon RX 5500XT or later, or AMD Radeon RX 6500XT or later
DisplayPort: DisplayPort 1.4
USB: Direct connection only
Bluetooth: Bluetooth 4.0 or later

Budget wise I'm looking to keep it as low as possible as long as it will run the majority of PCVR games on reasonable settings.

Apologies I know that's a bit vague but ideally I'd like to keep it under a grand. The closer to £500 the better but I know that might be a bit unrealistic

A new build with AM5 will set you back approx £400 for CPU, RAM and motherboard alone at the lower end. So if you need a full build based on that you're looking at closer to the £1,000 budget with a low to mid range or older generation GPU and that's without monitor.

If you don't mind buying used then you could go AM4 (sorry my older gen Intel knowledge isn't great) on the cheap but obviously it's kinda a dead end upgrade wise, still decent if you perhaps pick up an X3D chip.

So do you have an idea of what you'd prefer? Do you need a full build including monitor, keyboard mouse etc?

It would really help to know what resolution it runs at, because that's what defines the cost of the whole PC here.

£1K can get you up to an entry-level 1440p PC, but £500 is barely enough for 1080p.
