NVIDIA RTX 50 SERIES - (PRE)ORDER DISCUSSION **NO COMPETITOR HINTING**

5090FE just arrived, giving it a spell in the sun before it begins it's long trek in the darkness

Seems this drop was 72 cards by the packaging; not great, not terrible.

Be interesting to know the numbers on others who got the FE yesterday, on the last drop when I got one we worked out it was around 217 cards or so via 2 batch... one had 70 odd the other 140 odd from memory

What I said wasn’t rude. Title literally says not to hint competitors

It's been 330 pages of pre-order talk, if the mods had a problem, they would have done something by now.

Hinting competitors means 1) naming outright (e.g. Bob's Computer Store) 2) using descriptive words/puns to name the competitor (e.g. the green heart shaped logo, or basil's left knee).

You can talk about competitors existing, either implicitly or explicitly, probably for pragmatic reasons. If I said my XFX 9070 XT had just been delivered, but OCUK don't sell XFX cards, then I must have bought it somewhere else.

So quite a bit more than last drop ... almost double. Let's hope it doubles again for the next lot but I suppose it shows stocks is starting to flow through now :)
Ever the optimist. It was a month since the drop before, so i'm not getting my hopes up. The RTX 4090 FE launch was the a full on tidal wave by comparison. 2 months after launch the 4090 FE was in stock for hours at a time, hence I got one without stressing. The current situation is pathetic. I suspect the supply of AIB cards may increase, if the theory of the 5090 FE cooler being crazy money to produce is true. Time will tell.

Got an alert for 5090 Asus Tuf in the rainy forest 100% -£3650 off, for £1. Def looks legit and the seller has good reviews so I bought one quick, then went back and bought 2 more.

Checked back 4 times already to make sure it's not just a picture or something, but it's def a full specced item linking in with the MSI page.
Let's see what happens, will have some fun with this

Don't think I've seen anybody mention they have a Gigabyte Waterforce WB in the UK so far. Have those things actually come to these shores yet?

A few were sold at one of online retailers in the last week, at a big markup to 'msrp'.

RTX 5090 FE drop, grab it while you can!
5090Fe installed, all the ROPs are in place

, the card runs cooler than my 3 slot also undervolted 3090, scores nearly 3x higher in the CP2077 benchmark with the same settings...

Heartfelt thanks again for your post! I was in the 5080 preorder queue (ETA shifted from 30th of Mrach to the 30th of April) and was about to cancel it anyway as it transpired I needed more VRAM, my question about transferring to a 5090 queue was met with a flat refusal... And in comes our Shaolin Chicken hero :) Chapeau, xie xie, arigato and CHEERS!

The first ones I've heard about over here. Likely have been more I just don't know about but they do seem to be one of the rarer models.

The current price will likely be insane so not sure whether to wait for a reasonable price or go for something like an FE and a separate block (think EK have one).

Also, much respect to the competitor for running their system with black lists and enforced "one GPU per household" system. I got my 3080 from them also, when scalping and bot use was at incredible levels. I very much hope OCUK will also take note!

I've been to pick up my Palit Gamerock 5090. It's installed and working, with all ROPs present and correct. I've just cancelled my order at the queue place, so if you were behind position 22, you get to advance a place.

And now to soapbox for a moment...

This has been an absolute bloody catastrophe of a launch. I ended up paying £2400 for a Palit. That's £250 more than my pre-order at the queues place. Maybe that place will get floods of cards next week and I'll end up looking stupid. But I don't care. I finally get to uncouple myself from the stock checker apps and from refreshing my queue position page. I now get to move onto the next stage - obsessively sniffing my GPU and PSU and touch-testing the heat of my 12v2x6 cable for the next couple of weeks. Because it's absolutely clear that Nvidia have lost the plot and were not ready to launch the Blackwell cards.

We can complain about a lot of people here. AIB manufacturers are scalping retailers. Retailers are passing that on to customers. Scalpers are being their usual parasitic selves. But none of that would be possible if Nvidia hadn't screwed up this launch beyond all comprehension. It's ultimately all on them. The warning signs have been there since last Autumn, when there were reports of problems with their Blackwell AI chips. I know that the current precipitous drop in their share price is nothing to do with their consumer GPU woes, but I'd like to think at least some of it is down to the company being so bloody incompetent. Jensen's ambitions have now exceeded his abilities. Nvidia have fundamentally failed thus far to scale up to being a big global megacorp.
