2025/26 Preseason Thread

Just watched the highlights, Rasmus still rubbish, doesn't even look Championship level. Still exposed in the midfield.

Nice to see some attacking intent though. Dorgu looked lively.
To be fair Hojlund was much better than he has been for most of last season. Looked faster, blew past Kilman a couple of times. A little rash with his shot that hit the post but the positive is that he created a chance from nothing and hit the target.
I've thought a bit more about the midfield and I think there were more positives than negatives. The one obvious error was for the Wham goal when Ugarte and Mainoo were both pressing high and got played through. For me that was more about the defence not also pushing up and leaving too much space. That's a co-ordination thing that can be improved. Yes there is still a potential lack of physicality when you come up against say a team like Newcastle but Mainoo and Ugarte did quite well considering they haven't played together much. Amorim is hunting for options and flexibility - I see plenty of that once they all are more drilled.

Tell yah what for an ole friendly at the start of preseason that was a very enjoyable game hah.

If you paid for a ticket for that you got your moneys value!

Standard ticket was 145 quid! Spent the second half of the game in the company of John Beresford. What an absolute gent, he had loads of time for the fans and pictures. Bought us a load of rounds of beers too. I’ll hoy the picture up here when I’m back home, not sure how to do it off an iPad.

Can see him getting few chances this season especially if Elliott and Cheisa go
i think he's getting them regardless, already looks 100x the goal threat of chiesa - can only imagine the hype around him if playde for the mancs or arsenal. Ekitike looks raw as hell, preseason an all that, but if nunez chucked in the 1st half display that he did we'd never hear the end of it. Good run out though.

Man utd with a good win. Rasmus, looking sharp, actually moved into space and scored a great header. Dorgu looking very good too. Lets hope it continues. I only saw the highlights, but looked like mostly kids on second half and Leon looked good, a comical slip after a good turn and run to help with Williams goal, which was good. The players now seem to show more determination and willingness to help each other out. They also showed some Amorim ball patterns of play which we got glimpses off end of last season but more more consistent. Referee was *****.

Here is Leon and the reason he fell. Kindly supplied by Ugartes Instagram
