*** Official Ubiquiti Discussion Thread ***

I think the new SuperLink siren, entry sensors and motion sensors could potentially replace my current home alarm system and bring it into the whole UniFi ecosystem which may be quite convenient. Will wait to see a bit more info. Probably will be expensive but obviously self deployment and hosting with no subscription does help the value equation in the end. Looks like some are shipping later into the year.

AJAX System has been a nice alternative to that for me for the time being. Pretty affordable and very nice app / user experience. Nice to see Unifi moving into that space though.

Looking at buying a USW PRO HD from another retailer that offer 3 years free cloud hosting. I dont need the hosting since going for a cloud gateway but the NON free cloud hosting is out of stock and back order but the version with the hosting is available. Anyone bought this and just reset it when delivered?

Why not just buy direct from Ubiquiti?

Why not just buy direct from Ubiquiti?
Delivery timescale. I've ordered direct on Tuesday and its still not here. I'm expecting it tomorrow as I've had a note from the Carrier... Could do with it for Saturday. If I'm stripping the network the weekend is better less work disruption

What are my options for gateways to link a site to site vpn, and using starlink?

I currently have two udm pro se running linking uk to France, and potentially will need a third site, only way to get broadband there is starlink (sadly). I’ve been estimated 250Mbps which to my mind should be max out-able for both a lower spec gateway. I am a bit reluctant to shell out on another udm pro se given their cost but.. I need to be able to run the vpn at as high speeds as possible. Perhaps I’ll just need to bite that bullet but do I have cheaper options?

If anyone is wondering, UCG Fibre does EE's 1.6 Gbps /w PPPoE perfectly fine.

I'm using the SFP+ interface, which I didn't think would work as the module is 10G/1G, and I thought the Openreach ONT copper interface is 2.5 Gbps.

Id love those speeds, just because. But it's definitely unjustifiable, I'll push for 900 in March when I swap from Aquiss 300 to probably Plusnet 900 them being similar price.

Those ucg fibres are a little gem. Do you cry a little bit on the inside though having only 100 up?

Hi Folks,
My UNAS PRO has just been delivered 7 14tb Shucked drives installed 5x WD 5400rpm + 2 EXOS 7200rpm

This is going to be used for Media Storage, Plex and Photo storage.
I could do with separating the Ahem "Adult" media from the Hollywood film and TV so only certain accounts can access certain media via Plex.

Would multiple storage pools be the best way. Only really need minimal redundancy at this point.

Also thinking about the future and different sized drives, Whats going to be the best setup with this to then increase drive size in the future. For instance if a 14tb drive fails I might as well replace with a 20+tb drive only using the 14tb currently as I have some spare

Thanks

If you install a 20TB drive, you are only going to get 14tb of space from that drive.

If you want to upsize the drive size you need to replace the lot and you'll need somwhere else to store the data on the 14TB drives in the mean time.

This is the downside of 'proper' raid vs something like Unraid.

Just have different accounts in Plex and lock yours down. You can easily choose what media is available to each account.
I have one, my wife has one and the kids have one.
