I think from hearing Rooney and other ex players talk Man Utd partly had success because they were a big club with a small club personality, having a family feel throughout the whole staff.

From the outside it looks like that's gone and with it Man Utd's performance. I think Rooney was saying even some of the staff that had been there for years had lost their jobs.

Is this a view supporters think is a contributing factor?

It happens all the time, owners/board come out supporting the under pressure manager then next minute they are gone.

In other news - possibly not the right thread but it’s the entire club. Heard this on the football ramble…

Latest cost cutting has had the youth teams borrowing kits from the other team.

Just shambles, how can you have a good positive environment when crap like that is going on? You wouldn’t expect to find this at school level!

He does sort of have a point though. It’s just a shame it probably won’t pan out as positively as he seems to be hoping.

I mean, sure, it's good to support him and of course it takes time to really build a team in the manager's image. Although so far, that image is a worrying one. Having blind faith in someone who has been completely underwhelming doesn't seem wise.

He's just easing the pressure, seems like a smart thing to do.

I'm not sure it really does that. It just seems foolish to guarantee your manager a job for a certain period of time. Plus, everyone knows it's nonsense. We know he'd almost certainly be sacked if we're 19th at Christmas (not saying that''s likely).

On the contrary I think they do help. They certainly help the coach and they should send a clear message to the players who may be on the fence.
United are still a tough watch and I'm sure a poor result against 'pool will send us back down the longest snake again. However, the next match is a good barometer as to how together the team actually are and how flexible the manager can be in order to get a result. Three years seems a long time - it's realistic and pragmatic but seldom does that count in elite sport.

A good result at Anfield could be a springboard, but how many times have we said that. There hasn't even been a hint of any consistency.

I do get the impression Ratcliffe has really taken to Amorim and likes him a lot, but he's not really an expert... but you know, maybe you're right and this will help, we shall see.

I've said it a few times, it looks like they're happy to settle for somewhere around top 10 this sesson. Are all the players really top 4-6 quality? There are some glaring weaknesses.

I am all for giving managers more time but this morning on talksport they read out the 6 or so league wins they have had in about 9 months and it was a horrible listen. I'm sure they are hoping he walks rather than gets pushed, he seems mad enough to do that.

3 years to prove himself, I don't think it's entirely true as would they keep him if he finished in bottom half of table again?

Either it's a top half finish or he's gone imo, if he's not walked before then

Well I kinda like the commitment to a plan. But he needs to demonstrate that he can make Man Utd perform better in the PL.

Unlucky at times? Maybe. But he needs to get a better tune out of these players and doesn’t have the luxury of a real life FPL wildcard.

There were reports that his target for this season is some sort of European football.

If we're languishing in 14th at the next international break, some serious conversations will be taking place behind the scenes. But, if we can stay in the top half, not too far off 5th, that wouldn't be the end of the world.

We're only ever going to be 1 defeat away from a crisis though. Despite everything that's happened this season, I think we still need a slightly bigger sample size to judge the performances...

Ratcliffe loves coming out with bold statements so ultimately I don't think we can read too much into what he says.

I don't think Radcliffe is being sincere unfortunately. What does giving him three years really mean? If he finishes 15th again this year, he gets another bite of the cherry? I can't possibly see that happening.

Coming out and saying he still believes Amorim can achieve the ambition he has for the club, i.e. say you back him without putting a timeframe on it, would have made more sense.

So, we're now 10 games in, and what a rollercoaster it's been. From what many thought was the verge of the sack, to a good run of games and a general upturn in feeling at the club.

Whether his system and managerial ability is ever going to be good enough to get us back to where we want to be, I've still no idea really.

Critically, the club need to keep signing players with the same profile as Mbeumo and Cunha when it comes to knowing the league. You pay a premium, but the risk is mitigated.

The jury is still very much out, there are definite positive signs and as long as these continue to the end of the season, I think Amorim should stay. We can't afford to go back into another slump though.

At the end of the day we need to qualify for the champions league spots, To attract top players.
If Amorim fails to get that this year I think he will be in trouble.

I don't think many people are targetting the CL

Europa i would say is the target and should be achievable. CL would be amazing, but i don't think it's a goal for anyone

Europa has gotta be the target. CL would be a plus.

My patience ran out with Amorin after the Brentford game, but since then, she's shown a bit of tactical nous that wasn't particularly evident before, and got some results. With a slice of luck admittedly.

This doesn't feel very balanced, you'll tar him with good luck for the upturn in form but not bad luck for the downturn?

There was plenty of bad luck/players just not performing in the decisive moment (Fernandez penalties, Keeper errors for example) that attributed directly to the turn of a result.

Last performance wasn't good again and thats ultimately how you have to judge a manager making big changes. Are performances patchy but on the right track. Previously, no, no they weren't. If we have another patch of 3-4 games that we should be winning and playing well in that we don't then questions have to be asked again.
