Hi all,

Building a PC for the wife for birthday/christmas. Budget around £2k max (don't need monitor/peripherals etc). If I can spend a little less I'll use the extra to get a white mouse and other bits though so any help/advice would be appreciated.

It doesn't HAVE to be small form factor, but she's keen on white and likes the wood also. So the only bit I'm fairly set on is the case, either being this: https://www.overclockers.co.uk/cors...white-bamboo-cc-9011288-ww-cas-crs-02922.html

Or the mid size version of it: https://www.overclockers.co.uk/cors...white-bamboo-cc-9011284-ww-cas-crs-02924.html

If someone smarter than me can come up with something better than the below that would be great. Or if anything I've picked is a waste of money or could be done better let me know. I also spotted that the PSU seems to be fairly hidden, so perhaps I could do a cheaper one and grab some white cables for it instead if you're not going to see it anyways.

In other words as long as it's either of those cases, looks aesthetically pleasing, and can do general work/light gaming, she will be very very happy.

Thanks in advance!

EDIT: I realise already that I would probably need to add a few fans also!

I know you like the corsair cases, but neither were well received...They're massively overpriced seeing as they don't have fans too. I'd look at the Lian li compact min V2 ...it can actually fit a standard atx mobo also so pair it with something ike the gigabyte b850 aurous elite ice for £190
ssd, look at the auros 7300 2tb...about £120
if building yourself the C850 nzxt is £125 as alternative with 10yrs warranty
for £550, I'd pay £50 more and get the 9070xt for £599
Cooler...case can take a 360 in top...a lot depends how much you want to spend on fans...3 in top, then you'll want 5 reverse blade (3 for bottom, 2 for side) you have a preference?

Cable sets are really pricey, cheaper to just buy the white PSU.

With the Phanteks M3 you may well have enough cable management area to simply run extension cables from the PSU supplied cables.

Thing is, a cheap PSU and even cheap extensions is still pretty much the price of some white PSU's.

Problem is so many PSU's come with appalling looking cables.

Very true, I've had a look at some manufacturers ones and the lian-li PSU's seem to come with nice(ish) cables. Currently thinking of this, which has some slight changes to prioritise things that are in stock also.

how it looks...need to move the argb cable top right to come in from the side, but the hydroshift gives a very clean look

Love that, very clean and tidy looking! What is under the lower fans?
under the bottom fans is just the psu enclosure...went with a corsair 3500x case as lian li vector v100 and v2 we both out of stock (plenty of white one though..just my luck)..gpu is the 9070xt nitro+(the 12 pin high power connector is below the top plate so cables are hidden..there's also an argb cable to allow the mobo to control the rgb on the gpu, if you don't want to use the trixx software..last min add so that's the wire i dropped from top right which i need to change location)..using the nzxt c850w psu..plenty of space
as a guide, if you choose a different case like the vector or the 3500x, and choose to go with cl wireless, make sure you get individual fans..so the reverse blade side fans are a tripple pack and come with the wrireless adaptor...bought another triple pack reverse blade for bottom..but youm only get 1 pwm connector in the pack, so i have a spare fan for bottom right but no wayto connect it..happy to leave it empty tbh..just here the 2 fans were pretty much same price as the triple pack...at least there's a spare now in case on breaks...obsd if using the v2 you have, just get the triple pack (unless you jst go with the non rgb ones in the case, which is a lot cheaper than buying the case without fans and buying fans to put in

I wouldn't spend that much on the motherboard personally, unless there's some specific feature you really need this will perform identically and has a similar look:

I ended up with the Sapphire Nitro+ 9070xt simply because I didn't want to see a cable.

Hopefully we will see some more BTF in future. But for now I can at least get my 24pin cable neat.

Agreed! Had a look and that card would have been perfect if they did a white version. Anyways my plan has actually been foiled already as overclockers don't seem to ship GPU's to Gibraltar any more (which is where I'm from/live)... so I'm going to have to buy elsewhere unfortunately. Thanks for all the help anyways.
