New Build Advice - White PC Build

I'm not sure if it needs reseating or it's just because they had the heating in the house set to 45° (was seriously nearly sweating just sat down) but the pa120 wasn't doing as good a job as I would have hoped on the 9800x3d and hitting thermal throttle in OCCT..
45C heating in the house!? Do you moonlight as a serial killer/pyschopath in your spare time by any chance?

Yeah do a repaste with a credit card, less is more, and reseat it and test it out :)

Got very confused when i clicked the notifications. reading reply i thought i was in the wrong thread lol

Not sure on the Phanteks PSU .. Price Excellent. Unsure of lonterm Quality , agressively priced used Superflower and Seasonic PSUs for 10+ Years and lover their build Quality. (Wish OCUK still done a bigger range of the Superflower)

Will review all recommendations the £60 price difference on 7800X3D vs 9800X3D is a no brainer i think

Motherboard. i dont mind spending more for something more premium for better longterm support for next gen cpus like a Zen6 X3D chip.

Will be avoiding ASROCVK due to the ongoing Motherboard/CPU buring issues. If i up the GPU will likely be for the Sapphire white 9070XT

Can you give us more information about the "ongoing" Asrock issues causing problems with CPU"s and what CPU in particular?

Last video I saw was Gamer Nexus where he regurgitated old Reddit posts from May 25, but only seemed to have a single example of a damaged CPU in the last 4 months?
Interesting also that many of the Reddit claims have never been substantiated, yet Gamer Nexus took the time to collate information by counting complaints on platforms such as Reddit to try and find a number to throw out, and it was around 200.

I think more MSI users had PCIe lane issues than that, Asus routers certainly caused harm to way more users, and some other well known brands have had more returned faulty issues than this.

In fact he failed to show anything relevant, nothing since 3.40, and no matter how he tried he could not replicate the problem.

Do you also know how many 9000 series CPU have actually been damaged and how many Asrock AM5 motherboards sold?

I get that it reduces confidence, but it would be nice to know of recent examples as Gamer Nexus had none.

My lad went for a white Gigabyte B850 in a white NZXT H6 flow with white Be quiet fans and it looks pretty nice.
Nice motherboard to work with, three NVMe, lots of USB, no lane sharing, onboard audio is meh, but board looks good.

There's reviews of models on the same platform and they were decent. Always hard to know the longer-term, but the warranty is 8 years, so they must have confidence in them.

The latest Focus actually didn't review that well, a lot of niggles with it. I'd say that they're overpriced when Antec's HCG Pro (derived from Seasonic's platinum Vertex) is much the same. Albeit, they're not available in white.

The only board that might be a problem is the Sapphire, because we don't know how often the BIOS updates will come. Any other board should have no issue receiving updates.

Is OP building himself? If yes literally just finished a build. Was planning on using vector v100, but sold out, 2nd place the 011d mini v2 but sold out also, so ended up using a corsair 3500x instead (at least that has full magnetic dust filters though)

Also used the hydroshift 2 aio with wireless cl fans. Yup, expensive but quality finish and such a clean look in end (and performance is good, though paired with a 9800x3d guess you could use any aio and would be fine)..priced a bit different here so £135 including the cl wirelessfans (and seeing as the corsair case didnt have any, why not. personally don't think it too outrageous a price either)...review below if you care....if i'd got the v100, as had fans I would have plumbed for the thermaltake grand vision aio...now it's build not having the water tube hanging down in front of the ram sticks etc really does give a clean look...would work really well with a btf build

Regarding psu, i went for the nzxt c850 atx 3.1. 10 year warranty, tier a or a+ on the spreadshert i can link. Can be had in white for £125 easily enough..i was doing black build but if just colour change then just the heft of it felt a lot mor premium than the msi 850w i used for my sons build

In the end, no matter what we say, the aesthetics play a factor in building a pc..after all, this is a forum for enthusiasts, who are far more likely wanting to build something unique to their liking, and not run off down the high street and pick up a dell etc

I would post pic, but use imgur which no longer works, and dont know another method of posting on here.

From your review video, 50DBA at full load!!! You're a brave man! You must own sound good ANC headphones!

I recently got the NZXT C1200 ATX 3.1, they're great PSU's aren't they! Silent too, even with the fanless mode disabled! It seems to stay very cool - I tested mine outside of the case, after choosing it as a replacement due to a pathetic Corsair failing under warranty, and the NZXT stays cool even after UE5 abuse for an hour +, I was rather impressed, I'd of thought it would have at least got warm.
It does feel premium doesn't it! How cool was the unboxing experience, with the presentation they provide inside - I thought it was hilarious that they put all the cables into a NZXT branded wash bag, and the PSU came in it's own material house, inside another boxed section

trues, but that all of them on max fan speed (and comes 7th out of 16...all that tells me is dont run the fans on max unless you want to hear it). When they're all noise normalised at 40 decibels (considered ambient background so basically silent), it comes top keeping the cpu at 61 degrees...the freezer 3 running at 40 decibels has the cpu at 66 degrees, 5 degrees warmer. it all irrelevant really...all the coolers are cabable of keeping the 9950X under controlso a 9800x3d is a walk in the park. its more to say it performs very well and isn't just a pretty face. Still rocking my sony wh1000xm2's. 8 year old and still going strong. ANC right up there still..ear cups beginning to fall apart though :)

yup, never had a nzxt psu before, but it was on offer for £80 here, and the tier list rated it A+...good enough for me to try it. Didn't dissapoint as soon as i unpacked it. It really makes the msi 850WGL feel like a tinker toy. Admittedly not tried stressing it as the build isn't for me. Just put it together, put windows on, made sure all drivers running and uptodate etc, and downloaded steam. Don't think friends son has an account yet as they have ps5's, but done as much as I can to make it pain free...left the peel on the outside of the case also. was going to leave the inside too, but got visions of shattered glass with overexcitement so just taken it all off.

yeah, love the packaging of psu too. way better than the cosair psu I've got...not even sure the cables came in anything other than rip open plastic bag

damn aio def wants me to trade in my air cooler on my rig...and my 011d evo also..looking a bit dated with the metal support bar between the two glass sides..bit big as well....luck would have it, it was my b'day last month, and I never got anything.

Yeah, my point was more, that you'd want max speed at some points for a powerful/hot CPU, and the whole point of an AIO is silence and performance, otherwise you just run a stonking air cooler?

40DB is loud! A quiet room is between 25-30DB, so I'm confused how you can say 40 is 'basically silent'? I do have very good hearing apparently :P

Yeah, awesome PSU's :)

Ah nice mate, he's going to love it!

Yep, the presentation is stellar :) Oh really, well mine came in something like this, but it was a velcro folded flap instead - IIRC this is the previous ATX3.0 variants 'washbag'.

Damn, insist on a belated Birthday present ;) :D

that was what the cables came in?
wow! yeah thats a nicer unboxing experience than just the cables all in sealed bag things
not that i have any issue with them coming in bags but that is a nice thing to have them in
my seasonics cables came in like a bag like we use to use at school for our pe kit almost
which again i thought was nicer than it just being in the normal cheap plastic bags. nice touch.
sort of suggests that your going to keep the unused cables and bag for later use less throwaway
feel to it i guess.

Mine came in a nicer bag than that - that's the previous generation's bag.
Here's another pic of the previous generation, the presentation/packaging is awesome:

As I say mine has an even nicer bag, but yeah, but new and previous packaging are great!
Yeah it's a nice bonus! Make's it feel all that more premium and special when unboxing and setting it up for the first time :)

my seasonics cable bag wasnt that nice in comparison but still yes it had a similar impression on me when i oppened it . i mean if they are supplying it with packaging thats designed to last
then you kinda get the idea the product within said packaging is probably also designed to last
even if it isnt actually related it still gives that nice experience when you open it i guess
well unless it was meant to be a completely different product i suppose if i was hoping to find a 5090 in the box id be annoyed to find some cables regardless of how nice the bag they were in was lol but yeah
saying that after my attempts at doing normal things today its probably best i dont buy any power supplies or any other tech of any description lol

for comparison
disclosure i got this psu as ex demo so there might have been more packaging that came with it
this still was a nice thing to find though
but yeah not as impressive as the above lol

I don't have a decibel reader...I just googled what ambient room sound was and came back 40 decibels  . anyway, all I know is it was silent when i was using the pc yesterday loading everything up.
Good thing about working abroad is that my wife can't say no when I say out loud, can i get this??? speak now or I'm buying it?
my son was messaging me on Monday saying I should get the Rolex 'Deepsea' as I've always wanted one...just a snippet at £12,500 odd. When i pointed this out to him, he wrote, word for word 'it's not like mum's there to tell you off'...quickly followed by 'not a bad idea if i do say so myself, just don't forget you dear son who gave you the idea'

Ah fair enough, my mate years ago had a 'tornado' or whatever it was called, 55DB industrial 80mm fan, and he fitted it for a laugh to his HSF, the entire floor and house was vibrating and we literally had to shout to each other from 2 feet away. So there's no way 40 can be quiet lol.

Well as long as it doesn't get loud, then win win :) Hahahaha, that is a nice bonus! I bet she's fuming lol.
 Your son sounds like a legend!
nzxt-bag.jpg

so the C1200 get a zip...velcro for me...that's what you paid the extra for

Haha, washbag twins!
The 'old' non ATX 3.1 gets a zip. Mine is the ATX 3.1, so I have the velcro one you have ;) I did say this haha :P

and appolgies @pigeonguyuk , we seem to be diverging from your build thread..I have a pic of the hydroshift if your still interested..put on another thread as someone else was interested but can post a pic here if you want
