Trading the stockmarket (NO Referrals)

Petrofac on the verge of going bankrupt. Financial reorganisation has fallen apart after Tennet tore up their $14bn contract this week. As it was existing shareholders were being left with nothing. Realistically looking like the company will be broken apart and what bits that can be rescued will be sold off.

Wood Group also looking increasingly on a shoogly peg as well, with an impending shareholder vote on the buyout by Sidara at a bargain price of 30p. The board turned down a 230p offer last year I think it is. Failure to get agreement could see them go a similar path as Petrofac, with large levels of debt they can’t refinance.

It’s worrying times for U.K. industry, since Grangemouth refinery closed petrol prices up here have increased 5p, despite oil prices sliding. Prax fell apart a few months ago as well, though it looks like a buyer might be found for Lindsey refinery.

GME popping off nicely today. Might even hit my sell trigger soon.

ALRT looks like it's about to go pop.

A US teenager was handcuffed by armed police after an artificial intelligence (AI) system mistakenly said he was carrying a gun - when really he was holding a packet of crisps.

Obviously we need even more investment in AI to stop these things from happening, a few more trillion $'s should do the job where we'll finally have AI that can competently do the things we can't be bothered to do, like make sure children in schools are carrying crisps and not guns

Can't wait until they get given guns.

@silversurfer who do you use to trade on the ASX, I use IG.

Ah, I just noticed you're not in the UK
I would like to be in Dubai of course :D

Originally PRU was on LSE but then I was holding direct but my broker was sold and decided they only like millionaires so yep spreadbet. I hold IGG great stock, house always wins :p I think they win with volatile markets. Franklin gold have PRU. gold miners are really risky but this one has been > 10x I added some RR today, hoping 1080 is solid as it appears volume wise sold some HRI and will stick with PCT
Dollar is wavering, hopefully back lower

I was thinking we should measure buzz words by the page. When gold or AI or biotech whatever spikes, its time to take some profits :p

Day trading Beyond Meat could be going better. Saw I was in profit on one trade at lunch time, decided to watch the price whilst eating lunch, whereupon it dropped so fast I couldn't get out in time. I did have a good look at the meat-substitute section whilst in Lidl today though - no Beyond Meat, some other brand.

I do think this is the start of the major correction across tech particularly.

Not sure if it will be deep. But definitely seems we are in bear phase now

you've been repeating yourself a lot here.. ;)

Yeah he does that a lot… you get used to it…

“I’m not buying individual company’s shares….”

“It’s going to pop soon….” Lol

But to be fair, it sounds like he’s doing well.. the cautious one… lol

Personally I rather have a portfolio that I don’t have to worry about, time in the market beats timing the market et al.
