9800X3D Failures/Deaths in the UK?

Thats a decent AiO so something else must be up. Fans and rad clean? Fans spinning up to a decent speed? Have you set CO?

Nope didn't mess about with anything just ran it stock this whole time, 1st I noticed it running hot for shader compilation, now in games as well.

Guess I'll reapply some thermal paste first.

Yeah just dusted out my system a few days ago with a one of those usb chargeable dust blowers.

When your screwing down the AIO cooler How are you tightening the screws?

Could be 1 side is tightened down more than the other and not making very good contact. I would do each side up a little at a time and keep swapping so they are evenly tightened up

Yeah this could be my issue, as it still does run a little hotter than it should be in games. I've tightened them basically to the max, but could be right, might not be an even contact.

Going from the manual it has 2 screws either side and then the fan sits on tip. so, I would do it gradually each time to try and get the best even mount

Doing it too tight could also be an issue as it could cause bending of the motherboard\socket and in turn cause ram etc not to work correctly.

I was playing around with it while running cinebench best I could get to was the 83 for the whole run I had, or it'd go back to as high as 93.

I'll get the following AIO as in game temps are too high still

Lian Li GA II Lite 360

Installed Cinebench temps at 76-79 instead of 83-87

but seems like my 9800X3D just wants to run toasty I guess

Seems like temps across the board are down 5-6 degrees though and no max temps of 95 anymore.

So I'll take it.

What version of Cinebench was it?

Yeah mine must just run hot (stock settings) no changes

Guess I should finally follow a guide to knock some degrees off those temps further if I can.
Yeah it can really help. Bit of negative curve on all cores and even limit the PPT, EDT, TDC can really help. I had a similar issue with my AIO recently as I was hitting Tjmax. Re-mounted it about 3 times with fresh paste. No joy. Turns out the AIO was fubar. So I went back to air, with the Thermalright CPU cooler and for the money it is amazing. I've added some better fans with improved static pressure as well.

I cannot remember but I think I have a negative curve set on all cores in the bios (Mentioned above) which can be found quite easily online with a bit of google.

I went negative 30 and getting 71-74 on Cinebench runs :)

I'm happy with that for now

What I'll do next if I see any high temps coming my way. But the basic negative curve on all cores seems to be working out ok for now.

Thanks to both of you for the responses, much healthier temp ranges now.
