How straight forward is it to install vBulletin on your domain? Does it need anything specific from the hosting company for it to work?

All I would like to do is have things set up so that we have www.ourdomain.com/forums and something similar to the forums we use here come up.

Edit. Just found this on their site: "Before installing vBulletin you need to have PHP and MySQL and have created a database within the MySQL engine to hold vBulletin's data."

Having not done this before that all sounds rather complicated! Is it?

It's not too hard. And the databases are a few simple clicks in your webhosting control panel. Just check your hosting has the meets the requirements.

P.S. You will get better response in the HTML, Graphics... Forum.

Your webhost should have PHP and MySQL installed for you to use if it is a decent company, if you can't see that it is, check out their support or email them.

And as for the MySQL database, shouldn't be that hard to set one up at all. Just call it "forumdb" or something surely? :)

I also think you'd have more luck with replies if this was in HGP? :)

I'ts a piece of cake.

-create database (just a few clicks in your Cpannel)
-upload files
-run install script

Takes ten minutes usually, but probably 20 or so on a first attempt.

Edit: Why vB though? I run it now (after more than a year on SMF) and I honestly don't think it's especially better.
