Saberu, there must be a reason for you posting your cover letter here. Perhaps you weren't particularly confident in it and wanted people to say what you wanted to hear, that it is in fact just the right thing? If it's not that, then you thought it was brilliant, and you wanted to show off here (which is not dissimilar to the content of your cover letter). The last option is probably that you genuinely wanted people to proof read it. You got that, but responded in a very awkward way because you weren't hearing good comments. If you're saying it doesn't fit into any of these categories, it's probably a good candidate for not being posted in the first place.
Furthermore, many people have drawn your attention to the fact that in reality, a cover letter is very important and a particular style is often required. Your style does not fit into any style that would normally be deemed appropriate.
In this recession when many jobs are being cut and recruitment being scaled-down or halted entirely, and coming from a university outside of the top 50, with an attitude like that you're going to find progression in your career difficult, let alone getting through the initial stages. I do wonder what it would be like to work in a team with you!
