I want a GPS unit. Not for Sat Nav but rather for tracking where I have been and updating the EXIF for pictures I have taken.

I've not used one before, so help understanding which features are "must have" would be useful.

I think that I want:
- Huge battery life.
- Excellent reception
- Minute size

I shoot Canon 1DsIII and 5D

I use Lightroom 1.

I take lots of pictures - automated update tools would be pretty much essential.

And I would like to be able to track where I've been through integration with Google maps, Google earth.

I would rather get the right thing first time than skimp on the budget.

It seems that the answer to these is the etrex vista HCx by Garmin

24 hours from a pair of rechargeable AA's

Outstanding reception indoors and out. I'm sat in my front room and it can see 9 satelites.

The size of a small phone but a bit chunkier because of the AA's

All I need now it to work out how to match update my Canon CR2's with GPS info from the .GPXs It looks like GPSbabel is half the answer...
