No imigrants = fewer people drink driving.Yeah because the good old brits never do anything like it do they, idiot
Was only 5 times over the limit, no biggy.

The limit is there to cover people who have had a drink the night before, not so people can have a couple of pints and drive. If it was 0% you'd have to wait a good 24 hours before drinking and driving, which is totally unrealistic, and pointless.Pathetic sentance for the previous guy IMO,Blew 188 & gets a £60 fine three year ban & a DID's program
I've said for a long while now, the DD limit should be 0. This would take all the "oh I can have a couple, I'll be ok" arguement out.
Totally agree which means 697 sober people were driving in such a fashion as to make the police think they had been drinking. That's the shocking figure in that result.
TBH Drink driver = Scum
If he was my mate before this he wouldn't be now.
you not the kind of mate i would want to have, if to dump a so called friendship as soon as things went wrong.
to ditch someone like that isn't what i would called friendship .
Turkey: punishes drunk drivers by taking them 20 miles from their town and making them walk back with a police escort.
LOL! When they are still drunk?
2 hours since we are allowed 1.5 units anyway.
Yeah, I'm talking about spending 2 hours plus at a country pub with a large meal not downing 2 pints and jumping in the car. I don't think thats unreasonable really.

ok on a side note for those that say you do or do not have strong enough laws in the UK here is some stuff I have dug up regarding DUI in other countries.:
United States: Jail time, loss of licence and fine. Varies from state to state.
Australia: fines, loss of license, jail time, and medical before getting your licence back.
El Salvador: First offence = death by firing squad
Bulgaria: Second offence = execution
France: USD $1,000 fine, imprisonment for one year, and loss of license for three years.
Finland and Sweden: automatic one-year jail sentence including hard labour
Norway: jail for three weeks with hard labour and loss of license for a year, second offence gets a lifetime driving ban.
South Africa: ten-year prison sentence or USD $10,000 fine and, in some cases, both
Canada: first offence = loss of license for one year and a USD $600 fine. Second offence = two weeks in jail and loss of license for two years. Third offence = three months in jail and loss of license for three years.
Russia = Lifetime Ban
Turkey: punishes drunk drivers by taking them 20 miles from their town and making them walk back with a police escort.
Poland: drunk drivers are subject to jail, fine, and even worse, mandatory attendance at political lectures.
Malaya: if a man is caught he is jailed. If he is married, his wife is jailed, too.
Costa Rica: the number plates are removed immediately from the cars of those who drink and drive.
2 pints can have big effects on ones cognitive abilities, even if it doesn't make you feel drunk. Why not simply allocate a driver who want drink, and take it in turns.
I'm a bit sceptical of that list. What's the source?
In this article, many of the same punishments are listed, but it also says that, "In England, a drunk driver pays the equivalent of a $250 fine, spends a year in jail, and then loses their license for one year."
How often does that happen?
I find it hard to believe that Russia, the drunkest country in the world, hands out a lifetime ban on drunk-driving. But maybe they do - I'd just like to see a credible source.

I don't see how it's broken when in the second link you posted states;
The drunkest driver ever caught in Britain is believed to be Peter Banks, 44, who had 210 micrograms of alcohol in 100 milolitres of breath when he was tested in April 2008. The self-confessed alcoholic was jailed for four months and banned from driving for five years.
