I think this game simply needs open PvP with a slight death penalty. Nothing like EVE, but perhaps merit loss or something so that if you keep on dying, you drop down a rank and therefore have to fly a worser ship than you had.
With a campaign driven open PVP, that might allow the game to have borders which actually move depending on skirmishes and planet battles around the neutral zone... The devs can then have major battles fixed that could provide a turning point in the wars and swing the tide... I think there is plenty of scope for this game... Its just too young right now. You grind because that is all there really is. If you had captains influencing the borders and therefore resources etc, it might make it more interesting, well to me anyway... I'm keeping my lifetime because I had the money but I'm only playing a couple hours a week to keep myself going longer!

Need some advice an what I'm doing wrong please guys/girls
My tatical officer has trained in High yield II, She is skilled up but the icon is greyed out and the skill cannot be used? She has the rank of Lieutenant which is needed to use that skill so I'm a tad confused

Boff abilities are limited by the rank of the bridge station. An Ensign Bridge Station can only use Ensign Boff abilities, and a Commander Bridge Station can use all four rank abilities.
No such restriction for ground abilities, though. I've got two Boffs promoted to Commander that I only use on away missions.

You get a new ship at level 11. Tbh there arent really any "bad" decisions. However, tactical does suit an escort class ship very well.
I have two fed toons:
An eng in cruiser and tact in escort.
May play a little again on the weekend. Feel free to join our OcUK fleet - should be people on to help answer your questions.

It is a lot of fun, certainly for the 3-6 days of play it will take you to get to admiral. Kind of bored after that though - but there is raid content now, it just doesnt sound all that fun! Anyway, all I can suggest is to make up your own mind.
