Queens' finest

Can't post without including a Premo beat

..and another. Is it blasphemy to suggest It Was Written was better than Illmatic? Either way these are the best verses Nas ever wrote.

And the third member of hip-hop's holy trinity..

Grandmaster Melle Mel & The Furious Five - Step Off*
Sugarhill Gang - Apache
Crash Crew - Breaking Bells (Take Me To The Mardi Gras) would also be in there if I could find a copy on YouTube.
Kurtis Blow - The Breaks
Skee Lo - I Wish (purely for the comedy value)

*I actually prefer a different version featuring Scorpio but can't find it on YouTube.

Awesome thread!! Will have to post some of my faves when I get a chance..

Just had an idea.. youtube/vbulletin/firefox.. the companies should somehow make an addon that allows peope to queue all youtube links on a particular page/thread!

Groovin' @ the disco
on Page 2 and no one brought up 2pac?

nor spice 1

nor scarface/ice cube

modern hip hop doesn't have the feel of the hayday and apart from NaS, Rick Ross and the Game, I listen to to the each track on its own merit and never the album as 90% of the tracks are pants..

Edit: I too digg Vanilla Ice ... playing that in summer with the rag top down so my hair can blow....

Does anyone here remember Mike Allen on Capital back in the 1980s?

Let me nominate 'The Show' by Doug E.Fresh, really big back then but utterly cringemaking now.

and 'King Kut' by Word of Mouth and DJ Cheese.

Hip hop died in about 1987 as I recall:(
