My friend has a unencrypted wifi network, he wasn't in today as i was walking past, i had my Ipod and thought i would set up remote management so i could view the router config from home..

What fun can i have? want to play a prank on him :)

Rename his SSID to 'Paedo-Share'? Though in all seriousness if he's your friend you should show him how to encrypt his wifi.

Does he really need to be shown how easy it is to connect to an unsecured network? :p tbh I wouldn't joke around if it were a friend, it isn't worth the risk of someone doing malicious things with his connection in the meantime...

find a programme that connects to his workstation, turns the volume up full and loads a page of a gay porn video

That will teach him

You proberly won't be able to do this, but this site may give you some ideas: http://www.ex-parrot.com/~pete/upside-down-ternet.html

His situation was that his neighbours were using his wifi network, and instead of encrypting it he decided to have some fun, and used a transparent proxy that all non-authorized connections would go through, and it would do funny stuff like mirror or rotate all images on a website, or have a blur effect etc...

So if the right stuff is available to you, you can do some cool stuff. Be warned though that accessing someones network (even a friends) without their consent and playing around with it may not be legal. I don't know enough about the law but I would say the best thing to do is just tell your friend to encrypt the network.
