1) As I understand it, as long as you ghost an image across every now and then you won't need Trim support because the new image will be fresh.

2) Same for garbage collection I believe.

3) You don't need to defrag SSD's, so no problems there

4) Correct me if I am wrong on the above!

Still waiting to buy either 3 64GB C300's and raid em or one 120revo.. depending on how these pan out

The process of re-imaging relies on you being able to secure erase the drives to put them into a clean state. As far as I know there's no way to do that on a Revo, the usual process with SATA drives is to break the RAID, change to IDE mode and run HDDerase on each drive before recreating the array and restoring your image.

Without being able to secure erase you can't put the drive back into an unused state.

As I recall the Sandforce controllers don't lose too much performance in a used state, so it's not the end of the world, but it is nice to have the option available.

3x 64GB c300 is an easy choice. More space, more speed, more flexibility.

The Revo isn't for you then. It is aimed at harcore enthusiasts who want ridiculously fast speeds, I mean come on 500mb/s read! Thats crazy!

More the fact that the 50Gb drive is £4/Gb where the 80Gb is closer to £3/Gb - That's not about being an enthusiast - that's just plain bad economics ;) Ironically (and contrary to previous trends) the 240Gb drive is by far and away the best value for money - leaves the others in the dust in all respects - if only I could afford it... :(

Ooh, I'll be picking up one of the 80GB I think for a boot drive, then transfer Steam and other games over to my 128GB Kingston SSD. Should be good! :D

Any idea on availability of the 50 and 80GB drives? And pricing?

EDIT: Don't worry about pricing, just looked on the store. Any idea on when?

Here's your boy. More benchmarks this weekend.

Enjoy :)

Any chance of a atto benchmark result m8ty ? just want to compare it to my 2 256Gb Crucial M255's which I have in Raid 0

also does the card have its own bios ? what I mean is it like you have one drive straight into windows or is it like when you use raid and you have to wait for the raid controller to kick in then go into windows ..if you know what I mean..cheers:)

kinda want the 120GB

although I'll wait until it's £250 + VAT

edit: also to the people who say that they could get a couple of lower capacity SSD's in RAID 0 and that would perform about the same for the same price as this, that's not the idea, it's marketed towards people looking to get a single SSD, they're basically saying 'Hey look at this, actually look at this, it costs a bit more yes but you get almost double the speeds'

Im thinking about using a 120GB version to pep up my nearly 3 year old Q6600 / IP35 Pro / 4GB Crucial Ballistix PC2-8500C5 DDR2 / 8800GTX768MB set up
http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=17778606

the board has a spare PCIe x4 slot so it should be OK?

to me this is a better fit for me, than 2x60GB SSD. As my board has only six internal SATA-300's
2 are used for external drives caddies (my Esata blew out)
the other 4 are raided(2x500+2x160), but I will retire the 2x160s for 2 x 2TB non raids.

Ill probably get a new graphic card and up the ram to 8GB, with Win7-64(only on XPSP3 now), should keep me going till Xmas.

So I'm looking forward to your comments after the Hammering

I'm still waiting for good video footage on these cards, instead of some bimbo reading specs off of a sheet of paper. I wanna
watch this thing boot an OS!!

why? because you do not think it will boot an OS or you just want to see how fast?

remember its got a raid controller. its not a fast booting device because of this....once past the raid rom its very snappy though

because there really isnt a lot of coverage of this product yet. it is exciting and those of us in the know really want to get one. but in order to drop a load of money on it, some customers need reassurance that it is going to perform.

there is not a lot to go off when it comes to reviews, and we are one of the few companies to be showcasing it in this way which is really exciting!

im sure NathWraith's benchmarks will provide our customers with a better understanding of the capabilities of this product.

remember guys, this is a specialist product and shouldnt be compared to the merits of a single ssd.
as Tony says, it has a raid controller which means boot times are only quick after the raid has been recognised after POST.

that CDM test is totally epic. the read speeds were about expected, but the write speeds are off the charts!

I couldn't justify buying one yet. Even though it looks amazing. Something about no TRIM scares me off it.

I am debating buying another 1TB and RAID 0'ing it with my current one. Then when a bit more mulla rolls in, geting a 80-124GB SSD as my OS/Games drive. If these things get the TRIM support they i'll fall back into the land of confusion on what to do.

Never done RAID before. These damn forums have made me incredibly curious about cooling and tweaking my PC.

I'm pretty ****ed with ocuk.

Recieved my revodrive yesterday only to find a lot of problems with it. OCZ recalled the units and sorted new ones with a little green sticker to identify. despite ordering mine on the 30th of july i still recieved one without a geen sticker. Phoned OC they said contact OCZ it just needs a firmware update.

Contacted ocz, its not a firmware issue, you need one with a green sticker needs to be swapped thanks OCUK. After dropping 2.5k on a new rig and advising my friend to use OCUK who also spent around 2.5k it seems i've been messed around with regards to the revodrive.

Will be taking my business to [Please dont mention competitors, it is against the forum rules] next time unless there is some explanation and good will gesture.
