damn. now there are hopefully cheap 2560x1440 monitors, and i dont know weather to get 3 x 1080(portrait) for 700 quid or this for 400. i'm limited in space and 23" per monitor is the max i can go... but this for 400 rather than 700 for the dells is pretty awesome.

Do you guys think Xbox and PS3 would look good on this?

Was mentioned in another thread they have no built in scaling, but I am sure my current monitor doesn't and they look ok, though it is only 1920x1200....

Oh hell, possible flaw in my thinking - just noticed this only has DVI, and am also thinking HDMI might not be capable od displaying this resolution...

Let me explain my current setup:
I use HDMI out on all my devices (PC, PS3, 360) for audio and video which I plug into my amplifier/receiver.

I then output via another HDMI to my monitor.

Now, even if I could use a dvi to hdmi adapter, would I get full resolution via pc using hdmi?

Or is this simply not going to work for me at all?

Edit: Just to be clear, currently thinking of HZ27Wb as I imagine HZ27Wa will be much pricier.

You need a Dual Link DVI connection to the PC to hook up the HZ27WC to the PC correctly - HDMI (with a DVI adapter) is not sufficient as it doesn't have enough bandwidth to carry a 2560x1440 signal at 60Hz. Hence you will not be able to hook up this monitor up to an AV receiver.

If you got one of the models with a scaler (and the separate HDMI port) it would work OK through the receiver (for the consoles), but it still wouldn't be ideal as you would be running a 1920x1080 image on a 2560x1440 monitor - so the image would actually look quite a bit worse compared to running the same image on a native 1920x1080 of the same quality.

That said, you could then hook the PC up directly to the separate dual-link DVI port and you would see the full 2560x1440 majesty of the screen, but it is still not a great solution for the consoles and the models with the scalers may cost more than you are willing to pay.

Got this in the morning today from OC.

At this time we currently have no estimated time of arrival on this product, we hope to receive them before the end of next week, however we have been left in the dark, all I can suggest is for you to keep checking our website as all our products that are available will be listed there.

The above is about a 30 Inch Montior.

Arghh.. the week is nearly over!
Am considering going down the Bookies' to place a bet on Duke Nukem Forever beating Hazro's 27" monitors to market.

Hdmi 1.3 can support 2560 x 1600 in single link at 75hz 30bit/px

See :

Ah, my mistake. I must have been thinking of single-link DVI restrictions.

Therefore, a cheap adapter like this would work with the HZ27WC and the AV receiver. However, only the PC output of the AV reciever would work - since most modern graphics cards can happily output a 2560x1440 image.

A console like a Ps3 or XBox360 cannot output a 2560x1440 video signal - it is limited to 1920x1080 I believe. Hence, without a scaler (to do the interpolation that allows a 1080p signal to be displayed on a 1440p monitor) the HZ27WC would not display a signal from a 1080p console. That is my understanding of the configuration at any rate, anyone who knows more please feel free to contradict.

So with regards to release date for the 27" models, what are we looking at?

The 30's sound like they are pushed back a bit, but would like to know about the 27's

Am going to need a monitor very soon - should probably have ordered today in fact, but if it's really not long for these, they seem worth waiting for.
