a pic would be usefull for this..

Im looking at getting the sony hmz-t1 headset for films and gaming and the like..

at the mo i play on the xbox the likes of bf3 (yes i know the pc is better)
sitting infront of a 50" plasma @ approx 80cm away suits me fine.

question is this, using the hmd being a 750" screen at 20 meters distance how would this appear comapared?

No idea, you can't work it out the same. Ones a tv, the other is a "virtual reality" looking headset with a display equivalent to 750" @ a virtual distance of 20m. So actually you probably can work it out.
