when a friend of mine said that he could build me a good computer cheap i jumped at the opportunity. he introduced me into this forum and told me that if i got enough posts that it would unlock a buying and selling portal on the forum. is this true?

1000 posts and you have to have been a member for a certain amount of time

Sort of true, you also need to be member for a specified time and any attempt to increase your post count by posting rubbish will get you banned.

It's as high as it is to discourage people for joining simply for the use of it.

Just become part of one of the sub-forum crowds, won't take long to hit 1000 posts. The year is more of a challenge.
