Help me decide which theme is the best

Hey guys,

I'm currently coming toward the end of my BTEC and one of the modules is Event Driven Programming using Visual Basic.

So we were asked to come up with an idea for a program and implement it to the best of our ability, and I'm coming to the end of the actual programming bit but I've got a problem when it comes to how it's supposed to look!

So all I'm asking you to do is to look at these two screenshots and tell me which one you prefer in terms of looks.

I think I prefer the first. There are aspects I like/dislike about both but I think the first one edges it.

Great work building that. I actually dislike the icons on both. I prefer the standard font and window function buttons on the second one. Is there not a free icon pack you can abuse for the save/bold/align etc?

I like the scrollbar in the first and the resize corner bit, but your second one doesn't show that.

So do you think that it should have a scrollbar on by default and a status bar?

No, don't show a scrollbar until you need it. And the status bar, unless it contains useful information such as a word count or similar then it's not needed.
