Crikey just taken me 10mins to find the thread after its been moved to GD right - Im so fed up of these 2010 Revelations, they are complete junk, granted i did buy them 2nd hand to start with, but they were 6 months old at the time, since then they have had 3 new CSU's due to a creaking steerer crown interface (which is now creaking again - how unlucky can i get lol), now they are losing negative air pressure, and they flex like hell, 9mm QR is the cause of that, thus when heavy pedalling the front flex's and the front disc rubs on the caliper -major annoyance and not to mention its screwing up my discs.

Now im wanting to get new forks or if i dare again get some 2nd hand ones again, But what? Zocchis appear to have got decent again, Sektors? Old Pikes?, some form of Fox?
140mm to 150mm, 15 or 20mm only (new hubs have adpaters so none of that 9mm ****) All to go on my new On One 456 Evo

WTF is this doing in GD?

Anyway - shall I fit 160mm forks to my Blur LT? The SC website says you can but I'm not sure how much it will affect the ride? Got Revelation XX's on there at the moment but looking at some Fox Float (or Talas) 36's.

Either your forks were really bad or you ride them *very* hard with a dodgy setup. I've ridden a mates 2010 qr revs and at nearly 19st in full kit though they're a bit flexier than my Fox 15mm 32's they certainly aren't as bad as yours.

None of the forks you mention are much stiffer (if any) than revs so I'd be looking at height adjustable 36mm forks. You'll pay decent money for even 2nd hand 2 step Lyrics or 36 Talas's but Magura Wotans can be picked up fairly cheaply and are very solid.

Probably did get a bad fork from the off, seems to be the penalty for buying 2nd hand but i ride them fairly normally to be honest, and no dodgy setup that i can work out, 80+ 90- for my weight - just had nothing but issues with them since i started riding them :( Just one of those things i seem to not get along with at all and its starting to annoy me as ive replaced 1 disc as it had gauged a groove in from the flexing.

Yes.

The Blur LT has the same geo as the Heckler. Float's are very plush. Only get the Talas if you do a lot of steep climbing.

I had my first pair of Fox 32's from eBay second hand... apart from now needing a good service due to them being abused for a few years they were perfect :)

Get a decent pair of forks for the type of riding you do (floats would be ideal). My 32's are stiff enough for everything I've thrown at them (and using them for stuff I shouldn't have). My Fox 36's are stiffer than a stiff thing.

Managed a 60 mile semi-hilly ride @16mph on Saturday, fairly pleased as we weren't pushed uberly hard. Going to do 80 miles this weekend, maybe with a 30 miler the day after just to see if I can. Must post pictures of my new bike soon too.

I believe Sektors share the CSU/Lowers with Revelations. Pre 2012 Revs have a good reputation, I'm surprised you've had so many recurring issues with them.

You can find some decent deals on previous year Fox forks if you time it right with Mojo for example. I run some Float 32's with the 15mm axle and they obviously aren't as stiff as 36's but I've never noticed it much whilst on the trail. If you want somthing noticeably stiffer then you could try look for some 2nd hand Lyrik's, obviously they would be heavier than a rev and stay away from the '2step air' versions.

I emailed Canyon to find out how much a bearing kit would be for my 2011 Nerve AM frame and they emailed back saying it would be around £50, sounds a tad expensive really dont ya think?

Theres a bearing specialist not far from me so i might give them a shout and see whats what: http://leics-bearings.co.uk/products/bearings/

Get the ID imprinted on the bearings you wish to replace, buy from bearing store such as bearingking, sit back and bask in your glory and contemplate what you can do with the 40 squids you saved.

That sounds very expensive for only a bearing kit, even Specialzed are cheaper. Out of interest have they all gone or only some? On mine the linkage/seattube ones failed but the rest still feel ok. It cost me £10 to get them pressed out and replaced at the bike shop in Grizedale. It'd felt a bit odd on the the descent to the visitor centre so I checked all the pivots, one was loose and when I undid it fully the bearing just fell out in a rusty mess.

All of them still feel smooth and tight. I just wanted to see how much they would be really. Also I wanted to make sure you don't have to use the ones Canyon sell and you could just go to a bearing specialist. Me bikes had a terrible year of being on wet water logged trails and then getting the life jet washed out of it more often than not. I'm surprised the bearing's haven't given up the ghost yet.

good swinners sesh on sunday morning (before the rain woop)

not really sure about the man made mega windy bit (with the extra bit if you fancy it) its pretty much flat and just goes for miles of berm after berm with no momentum or speed, if they had built that on a down slope it would have been amazing but just seems odd on flat ground?

the Santa Cruz Nickel is much better on the jumps now though, previous frame flexed like mad when you pumped before the take off,
cleared the longer jump on the second trail along (at the top of the fast dh bit before the labyrinth)

first trail along from the left getting a bit rough again, braking bumps in the berms seem to be back after they all got fixed up (last year?) but still love that bit - pumping berms into jumps woooo

How come you ride Swinley when you are in Southampton? Just interested. :)
The "mega windy bit" man made on flat is called Stickler. It used to be just a single trail, then they added a big section with berms, and then another, and now another new bit. Yeah, I have a mate that loves that section so much, but for me, it's just a lot of pedalling as it's flat. I actually came off there a week or two ago as I tipped into a berm the front wheel came out the top of the berm and I lost the front and went down quite hard. Oh well.

Which bit do you ride at the top? I/we refer to that whole downhill tightly packed tree part as "The Labyrinth". Not sure if that is correct. There is a trail first left, next one is just to the right of it, then another after that to the right also. I think they are in order, Deerstalker, Babymaker, Axle Run. Not sure about that though.
The best one seems to be the middle one (babymaker?) with table tops that you can connect up, although I am to slow to properly connect them. :(

Thanks. Is the only difference between the Float and Talas that the Talas is adjustable? Its just because I've been offered the most ridiculous deal on some Talas's that you cant say no to.
I dont do many steep climbs out of choice :p

Just because its good ! - only other things round here are great for post work rides but not very exciting, or QEP in Petersfield which is good but we like to mix it up a bit

Yeah "Stickler" it just seems a waste when all those lovely berms would be ace on a slight down slope rather than flat, its very peddaly (seat up) when it should be fun (seat down)

Usually 1 run of Deerstalker, pull out before the Labyrinth, back to the top then Babymaker into Labyrinth

not tried the last one is it good?

makes me laugh seeing all the dudes with their full face helmets and full on world cup DH bikes at that place (unless im missing some amazing DH trails somewhere ???)
