Morning chaps.

I'm on day release from SETI and have decided to go AWOL and stick around here for a little while ;) :D

I have to admit that I'm confused by all of the different flags people are using, how bonus points etc work. Bigadv looked like an obvious choice but I read somewhere that there isn't benefit when using the new V7 client.

Any tips for a newcomer to boost my PPD? I'm adding a couple of rigs to the fold, an i7 with 2x580s and an i5 with 2x470s.

Only thing I would recommend is going to the advanced tab and checking options for increased performance I've for gotten what they are called something like increase CPU time and priority

You can't use bigadv anymore on anything with less than 16 threads, they crippled the work units. So yes, client-type advanced and size big are the flags in the v7 client.

Thank you good sirs.

I should have said that I'm using the V7 GUI rather than the client. I've added the client-type advanced flag but it didn't recognise size big. Is this the same as max-packet-size big?

Now to go and find another i7 CPU to replace this lowly i5 :D :D :D

Make sure you've got a passkey or you won't get the bonus points.

I got some nice shiney stuff to sort out.....

Hopefully at some point today I'll be able to get an i7 3770k & FX8320 up n running :D to replace the sempron & celeron.

Had to settle for an FX8320 as the 8350's seemed a little hard to come by (at time of purchase) - but I can't imagine that much of a performace increase so I don't mind.

Then I just need to sell acouple of GTX460's and the two CPU's before the next purchase of a couple of GTX660's ;)

So much for getting all pc's up'n'running again.....

Got the FX8320 running ok after a few teething troubles, not to sure on the temp monitors though (tried Core Temp & HWMonitor) - says the cpu is 32c @4.3GHz.

However......

The 3770k will have to wait - turns out my cooling solution won't fit in the case so I'm gonna have to strip everything and swap it with one of the 2600k's cases which are a little bigger.

A job for after work (which is around 1:00am tomorrow for me).

Overall, I'm not happy - but I'm not unhappy either.

:)

Got this error message. How do I find out what is unstable? Assume it's one of my GPUs although I've not had any crashes and the temps are fine (low 60s)
