Hi,
I'm overclocking an I5 2500k on a new Gigabyte GA-Z77X-D3H from 3.30 (multiplier x33) default speed to 4.1Ghz (x41) but when the system boots up (boots fine) it shows as 5.90Ghz in Windows 7 My Computer Properties! On my CPU meter it shows as 5900Mhz until it idles at 1593Mhz.

All I have changed in the F16 BIOS is the clock multiplier from x33 to x41 and set the memory profile to XMP-1600, no voltage changes. I used to run this chip at 4.1Ghz without any problems on a previous motherboard.

Surely its not really clocking up to 5.9Ghz? Its idling at 25C-31C. Is it a motherboard to Windows reporting problem, do you think?

Many thanks!

Thanks, I had that installed.

I used Intelburn Test and RealTemp showed it went up to the correct speed of 4100Mhz, temp around 50C-60C on full load.

Strange how Windows is showing it as 5.9Ghz though! Freaked me out for a minute, I thought it may be something to do with the Turbo settings (not touched them) and if it got that high it would obviously crash before reaching it!
