is it a lottery?
or do some models almost certainly give coil whine?
when trying build a quiet pc its my main worry really about the gfx card

i dont see many reviews talking about it when scoring a card etc ><

I think if you're looking for the sound and you have silent fans I think more people would notice it.

It can be a combination of things that cause coil whine. It can be your graphics card, motherboard or PSU but it normally manifests itself through the graphics card. That graphics card can be fine in another system with different components in it.

I had massive coil whine when I got my 7970 but changing the PSU in my case totally eliminated it.

but there must be some cards that are more likely to do it than others or nup?
