Rather than waiting for the MOT (failure) - why not get the codes read now, and fix it before taking it for MOT?

We will do, took is to one garage who basically didn't have a clue said they were going to research it but we didn't hear back so probably going to take it elsewhere, don't think they gave us an error code.

Ok finally taken it to a Ford specialist, and it's the "ABS ESP IVD hydraulic unit control unit" that's at fault, price from Ford £1160.

The part number I need is 3M512C405JC, I've found it on a German website for about £780 including shipping.

OcUK I need your help to find it even cheaper!

What is the fault code that was recorded?

What sort of pump - is it a Teves MK60? If it is, you can get the replacement head end of the pump containing the pressure sensor that is the bit that actually fails as a separate part for about £150+VAT. This is about the same as you'll pay to get yours refurbished, but Ford should have them in stock and so you car won't be off the road for a week whilst it's in transit/being repaired.

If it is the above and "Ford specialist" hasn't told you about the replacement head, then they're either idiots or are simply trying to rip you off. Either way, go elsewhere. These pumps are probably the most common failure point on on many makes of cars made in the last 10 years.

Well I phoned BBA reman and they wanted the fault code, which I didn't have so I'm just waiting for a call back from the garage when he plugs his machine back in.

He didn't actually recommend BBA reman, apparently he's had a few people who have sent parts off and they come back still faulty, he recommended All car electronics instead. So we'll see I guess.
