Why cant they just give us release date and rrp.

Lack of kicjstand and the stupid key board is annoying. But screen brightness and lack of reflectivity as well as nokia apps, makes it the better choice imo, as well as lte.

I thought the keyboard in the vids looked quite good and I like the extended battery life.
Can't believe Im still interetsed in this as I don't want RT, but I have some money for a tablet that will disappear after Xmas and I don't want an Ipad, have become bored with android and want win8 and there aren't any decent bay-trail out there at the moment. With the value that Nokia add to their products, it will be the best RT tablet for me and I can use it to tide me over until surface 3 or whatever comes out..
Im betting an end of Nov release date

:( disspaointing, doesnt look like we will get it anytime soon.
Its upp for pre order in Finland for 4th of december delivery.
With uk in with a load of countries by te end of the year.

I hate it when they do confrences to early and dont say price and release date.
A confrence should only happen when you can pre order the day after with firm release date.

Why do so many companies insist on doing 16x9 screens though. :( yeah, they're great for watching films but it ruins it for everything else you do on a tablet over more square formats.

I love the idea of a windows tablet but find 3x4 for my usage (web browsing and photo viewing) significantly better than 16x10, with 16x9 being even worse than that.

16x9 should be confined to large TVs and banned in everything else! Yeah, it's cheaper (why they insist on putting it in laptops), doesn't mean it should go into laptops though! :( at least we don't have to put up with many 1366x768 displays anymore, which were a massive step back from 1280x800 displays!

Edit: it does look so swish though, I do also think MS missed a trick though by not standardising the charging and keyboard ports. Accessory availability would be a lot better if the all worked together.

16x 9 is superior for everything, other than ebooks. Get a kindle for them.
16x9 is far better for games, video, webpages etc.

The iPad is crap at utilising screen space. nice 10" screen with most of it wasted.

Oh come on you can't argue this, it's crap when you want to use portrait, there's a reason the kindle isn't 16:9 but as I have both a Windows tablet and a kindle I reckon I have the best of both worlds.

Thinking about it though if I wanted to use a tablet in portrait all the time (one handed especially) wouldn't a 6-8" size device make more sense?

I use a tablet in landscape most of the time and 16x9 would still be a big issue. There is just not enough vertical space compared to length, whether that be a tablet or a computer monitor.

16x10 gives you the same width (pixels i'm taking here) but extra height so you can fit more on a page. Same to an extent with 4x3 where you get even more stuff on a page, the negative is you'll end up with bigger black bars with a video that isn't 4x3.

EDIT: Re reading AH's post there is no way you can really say 16x9 is better than 16x10 for anything other than video when 16x9 is generally 1920x1080 and 16x10 is generally 1920x1200. Those extra 120 lines of pixels makes a lot of difference. There are some tablets out there with 16x10 aspect ratios, no windows ones that I know of though.

I'd take a 16:10 1920x1200 if I could.

One thing I don't fully understand is people saying 16:9 for videos, when modern blu-rays and that are like 2. something, when you're lucky and have some 16:9 content it's really good, but I can still get black bars a lot of the time, just a hell of a lot less than an iPad.

It looks like the Lumia 2520 is due to go on sale in the UK in the first week or so of December.

The Lumia 2520 is set to go on sale in the US next Friday, the 22nd of November; thankfully however it seems the US won’t have exclusivity of the device for long. As a trusted source tells us that the 2520 will go on sale in the UK almost one week later, in the first week of December at John Lewis department stores. This is of course great news for anyone who can’t wait to get their hands on, or even try out the 2520; as for a while now the US have gotten a month or two exclusivity on devices before the rest of the world.
