I like this car a lot, I've not done much research into it. What can you guru's tell me about it? What's good and what's bad? Is it a worthy investment?

I briefly looked into the Z4 Coupe when buying my Z, overall I think they look brilliant and have a great powertrain. Known to be fairly bulletproof although obviously it won't be the cheapest car to run, ultimately I didn't buy it because my wife couldn't drive it (4ft 10 ... jap cars suit her!) but the only thing I didn't like was the slight offset pedals.

I currently own a Z4M coupe, is there any specific you want to know? I've had it for coming up to 3 years now. I would suggest reading booner's posts and also checking out the Z4 forums.

Highlights; mechanically they tend to be bulletproof, benefiting from borrowing most of its tin from the e46 M3 at the end of its development curve.

Tyres, insurance and fuel are reasonable, it's a special place to be when you want to play, when you're less interested it can be a little tiring. I'm currently eyeing up a move to either an e92 M3 coupe or a C63 AMG coupe.

The only expensive thing was the servicing. Car was super reliable, engine didn't use a drop of oil and it was my daily thrash. Took it to Europe and back, was an amazing roadtrip car. The only thing about the roadster (which you won't have with the coupe) was the hairdresser comments, then you'd take people out and change their mind as it's a different beast to the 3.0litre entirely.

If I was looking for a car below £25k that did everything I wanted, my money is still on the Z4m.

I have a Z4M, albeit a roadster. Can't add anything more than suggesting you read Booner's threads. Like others, reliability has been great for me with only the servicing costs being a bit eye watering, but that's M cars, and I save by buying the expensive specialist oil myself directly. In 5 years I have had nothing but consumables and servicing to pay for.

I came from a Boxster and that is a better, purer drive but I prefer the Z for being a bit more visceral. Think of it like the closest thing you can find to a reliable TVR with 80% of the performance.
