Hey 8 Pack (or anyone else!),

I've got access to several 4770k's at the moment and was wondering if there was a "quick" way to get an idea of the chips potential performance. I've seen some people mention a certain method but wanted to check with you if it was more a case of properly testing for stability over a long run.

Hope my question makes sense, haven't slept for a while :(

Thankyou sir, got one a million times better than the first! 4.8 at 1.35, not the best but far from the worst.

Just to check, assuming this will be delidded under water - safe max 24/7 vcore? Have no doubts this one could do 5ghz at 1.45v ish.

Your looking at 70oC max temps in things like intel burn test and prime95 at around 1.35volt - 1.4volts, bepends on what you mean by under water.

If that's a 4.8ghz [email protected] it won't do 5.0ghz, in fact even if it's 'stable' at 1.35v it still won't do [email protected], might get 4.9ghz if you're lucky.

Just to give you an idea, i've got a 5.0ghz chip that runs 1.35v for passing all the stability/stress tests etc and does [email protected]. (boot's 5.0ghz@<1.25v).

For 24/7 consider 1.35v on core max and make sure you've got good cooling.

No it wont do 5ghz at 1.45v ish. 1.45v is too high anyway but these chips dont scale beyond 1.35 on ambient. A 5ghz 24/7 chips is boot 5ghz Windows 1.2375 and below.

Yikes, okay thanks guys. Still have a few more chips yet, maybe I'll get luckier. This one will boot 5ghz at 1.35 but crash into windows, it's vastly better than my first one at any rate which wasn't stable at 4.6 < 1.4..

Jealous of your 5ghz 1.35v stable :p , I won the lottery on gpus so can't complain.

They won't sell them outside of systems would be my guess. 8packs systems look good but I don't think many people will have the money to buy them. Most people I have seen who are making systems like the ones 8pack sells, just buy their own CPU's and dump the one's that fail to meet the grade back on ebay. Hell I don't even care if I kill afew on the way.

Maybe IB-e could do it but you don't want to go above 1.35volts on air and 1.4volts on water anyway. Guess 8pack will let us know when he posts.

you're talking about 4930K or 4960?

Regarding haswell cpu's, we may see higher everyday clocks now on the new devils canyon chips. From what ive read so far they run a good bit cooler on air/water than the current chips.
