All over the world...
Limited run though lol

Yep they are, luckily my brother in Canada managed to pick up the last one when he bought his last yr.

But like you when i drove it, the thing was an absolute beast of a car. Actually scared the living crap out of me when my brother told me to slam the throttle down lol.

If i could afford to get one, id get one in a heartbeat. Sadly i have to make do with a 2014 Golf GTD which i just bought today and should have by Tues:p:D

The new ones (MY14) will be 5.5TT.. but the previous gen were 6.2 NA.. that's the motor that probably wont be used again..
The TT makes more power, but if you prefer a big NA, in future you'll be out of luck I guess, unless you go for something American.

I was looking for C63s and E63s as well, but no way I am buying one out of warranty or an import, which is all I could afford basically. The power is wasted on my driving route as well, so i'll have to stay sensible for a bit longer :)

I am not 100% clued up on the C63's reliability but when I was looking at them they did not seem to have any major issues. Apart from the real early models had something niggly with the engine which merc fixed in the later models I think.

I am out of warranty on the SLK but doing my research found that the major common problems were things like heated seat elements fail and minor little bits. Major expenses come from replacing discs/pads and potentially the gearbox. But if that had a one off service it is also pretty bulletproof.

If you know a good specialist that can also keep costs down. Don't be afraid :)

Yes, most likely. but you really need a clean car with FSH to start with, which is more difficult over here than ensuring you have a reserve pot for bills.
Most of them have been thrashed and erratically serviced at dodgy garages by the time they hit the 40k price point. I did find a 2009 E63 for that price, but it was Canadian, and if I ever needed dealer support they could, at worst, just laugh at me and tell me to bugger off.. Or at best, charge me a grand just to book it in.. (I went there before with my CL!)

Edit I did a check of a local 2007 E63 last week which I was considering at around 15k.. but the dealer had zero service records for it, and neither did the owner. So that kind of thing is just too much of a liability for me.. prefer to have a warranty and predictable monthly costs

Yeah, people here seem to treat cars like that. Throwing away the service books, losing keys, skipping maintenance.. They are the people who advertise using only "good car, no paint".

I sold an Audi A4 once, and the guy was in such a rush I only had one key on me to give him. So I told him to call me the next day for the spare. That was 2 years ago and he never did get back to me. lol

You need to be lucky to find a diligent expat owner who keeps everything and has maybe bothered to get the extended warranty. Otherwise assume the worst.

current project, my '89 w201 190 2.0, bodywork wants a little tidying, need to fix/replace the automatic aerial, fix the passenger side electric wing mirror, replace the alternator, remove the horrible alarm/immobiliser and possibly a respray after 25 years of being sat in the sun. Lastly the wheels could do with being refurbished, I also have some steel wheels but I'm missing the wheel trim.

What's the deal with SL55 AMGs?

The facelift came after 2006 right? But at 2005 there is a better nav unit and some other updates?

Which sort of year did all the crap get sorted as the early ones were pretty unreliable?

I get what you're saying (with regards to warranty). But what's stopping you from purchasing extended warranty from either MB or a third party?

If either the manufacturer warranty has expired or it has been out of the agency, you won't get a merc extended warranty. Third party warranties may be OK for some items, but they are not that robust and full of holes.. I got one for a range rover l322, mainly because I knew they were prone to diff failure, but pretty much everything else I tried to claim was refused.

yes totally agree. I would also buy one without warranty outside of the agency if I knew the previous owner and/or it had service history. But not from some random.. and that that would go for anything over here really.
I bought an MX5 recently and only later found out it had an extended warranty, which the seller didn't know about.. which just goes to show how apathetic many car owners are :)
When I am done with my new E350 ill probably look for the next gen C or E63.. But for now I am happy with my choice.

Well, as expected, my mate has put in his order for a new C250 CDI AMG Sport. In white, with black wheels

As we often share cars for airport runs (both he, my wife and myself work offshore, so there is always someone going to the airport), I guess I'll get a decent amount of time in it.

The interior does look like an improvement over the older style, but we'll see how cheap it feels when he gets it in time for the new registrations.

He is an idiot though. Our local Merc dealer is Arnold Clark, and he just accepted their first offer. £1300 more than Drive the Deal, which wouldn't be so bad, except it's just the Premium line, not the premium plus with command and speakers.

Do you live in Aberdeen? Not heard many good things about the Arnold Clark Mercedes dealership in Aberdeen......

No, I'm between Brechin and Arbroath. But my mate os from Arbroath. He went to Perth for the car though. But all Mercedes are Arnold Clark all the way down to Glasgow.

Merc in Aberdeen are terrible though. Even before they were AC. We went in around 3 years ago, my mate and myself, JUST after he bought his new C Class (the outgoing shape, and they were only 3 weeks old at the time, so obviously brand new). Anyway, I was looking for a C63 / E63 at the time. And was surely prime candidate for such a car (low 30's professional in Aberdeen). 15 minutes and no-one came to talk to us. Not one of them were busy, we were the only customers in the place. They were all just watching Youtube videos. I went and bought a BMW.

Don't think I've heard a good word spoken about them. Really puts me off ever getting a Merc if I'm in Aberdeen.
