Hey guys
New here but wanted to get peoples opinions on this. I'm looking to buy a new beastly gaming laptop today (Also for potential editing in unreal editor and maybe photoshop work)
My budget is up to £1500

The 2 I'm looking at are the Asus G750Jh or the MSI GT70 Dominator 4thGen

The Asus is more pricey but has better cooling, more ram and a 780m, the MSI is cheaper but 870m and 8 gig ram.

The issues I hear though are the 750 has a bad screen and I wanted to know how true this is and just how bad it is - will it be highly noticable?

The issues with MSI i hear is that it overheats really badly and can be super loud too

What should I get, and what do people think of these two laptops

Hi JayD83

I can't speak for Asus having not used their Notebook. In what respects does the GT70 suffer from overheating ? You can find an overview of our cooling technology here

http://www.msi.com/product/nb/GT70_2PC_Dominator.html#hero-overview

If you want something that has

- 16Gb DDR3
- GTX 870M
- Ultra thin and Quiet

Then maybe have a look at the MSI GS70 that Gibbo has up for pre order

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=LT-132-MS

Stock should be about a week to 10 days away and its coming in at £1499 so right within your budget

Thats the 17" version of what i've got. VERY good machine! very well made, very fast. Albeit it can get a little bit toasty under load. But all laptops do.

If you're not fussed by looks or weight, see what GTX 880m you can get for that. for instance a specialist PC company out there in the world can do a 15" clevo with i7 3ghz, 16gb RAM, GTX 880m, single 128gb SSD and 1tb HDD for under £1500. That said it won't be pretty!

for me, the age of heavy laptops are over! the GS60/70 have a great GTX 870m that copes with most things in high/ultra. 2 SSD's speed it up, 16Gb ram means i never worry about what i'm running! And yet its less than 2kg. the latest alienware 14" is 3kg! and the 17" is over 4kg!

Purchased a MSI GT70-2PE-1811UK Dominator Pro 17.3" True HD LED GTX880M 8GB 4810MQ, 16GB DDR3, 2 x 128GB SSD Super-Raid, 1TB 7200rpm HDD, BD Writer and Windows 8.1.

This is the third MSI Laptop I have purchased for the family over the past 2 years and have no complaints.

The Asus, for me had a couple of problems.
Not supplied by OCUK whom I trust.
Also versions with an SSD were generally only available with 5400rpm hard drives.
