£400-500 upgrade from Q6600

Looking at upgrading my stable but rather old Q6600.

Case is an old coolermaster wave, so prob no need to change.
Main drive is 250gb Samsung EVO SSD so not changing.

I'd assume then CPU, motherboard, GPU, memory and possible PSU (current is an old corsair HX620).

I don't really game, but do some Photoshop & Premiere stuff.

One of the main reasons for upgrading (apart from shiny new things) is that the old board doesn't run latest SATA and I can't add pci due to it being x1 only.

Any suggestions?

thanks

Unless your current PSU is giving you problems keep it - it's fine. Doing so allows you to spend more on the stuff that counts.

That looks very interesting - if I wanted a good low noise cooler any suggestion?

Around the start of this year my Q6600 based system packed up. I retained my case, power supply and optical drive and got the following bits-:

Xenon 110i Intel Pentium G3220 3.0GHz Dual Core Haswell Home PC Bundle with 8Gb RAM @ £155 and a Kinston 120GB Solid State HD.

I don't game, but for general day to day use I'm very pleased with the results.

I've used each of the below for various builds - all work fine and are very quiet.

As for the power supply, that unit is built by Seasonic which is a quality OEM. There is no reason it shouldn't work with the new stuff. Seriously, just re-use it. If it doesn't work, spend £48 on a Superflower 450w

Thanks.

Since it appears I'm now spending £500+ ...Is there much to be gained by changing the case? I dont have any issues - as far as I can tell with the current one.

I may spend extra on a 4 bay NAS though

Nott'm
Just took a HX620 out of another rig, but that's due to a crossfire setup and wanting more overhead.

It's sitting pretty in another pc now, overclocked 4770k with a 780, and it's doing just fine (and has been doing fine for 4-5 years), I very much doubt you'll need another one :).
