Are these the Symptoms of an SSD on way out?

Normally, the computer is on 24x7, and the screen is locked when nobody is using it.

Tonight when I tried to unlock the screen, I was unable to type in the password.

On reboot, there was a message asking for the boot media.

Upon going in to the BIOS, the boot drive (SSD) was not visible.

After several reboots, I decided to switch it off and leave it for half an hour.

When I came back and switched it on, the boot drive was now visible and I was able to boot up the system and log in (and take backups).

This is the second time this has happened, and I am wondering if this is a signal that the SSD is about to pack in. Or, could it be the motherboard?

The system (spec in sig), is exactly two years old.

Should I just order a new SSD and will I be able to clone my current one (if it is still working). I have Acronis 2013.

Is there anything else I can do in preparation?

Thanks.

Thanks for the reply Stulid.

I checked the firmware version when I got home.

My current firmware version is 010G, which makes sense, as I got the drive in Nov-2012 and after that I did a firmware update. The bug was fixed in 0309.

I noted that firmware update order has been:
0001, 0002, 0009, 0309, 000F, 010G, 040H 070H.

So there have been a couple of updates since the one I did, but my version should have the appropriate bug fix.
